You're a day late and a dollar short. Apparently Trump and Musk are in the process of kissing and making up.
Not that I care. Musk did a lot of good in his stint, and as the title says: It's not Elon Musk; it was never Elon Musk. I think anyone who follows this stuff knew that he has a big ego and is used to being a dictator with his companies. But he was brought on to do a job, and I think he's mission accomplished. He brought all the WFA to light, and now it's up to Congress to do something about it (not that those lazy grifters will).
I'd take an Elon Musk and Doge team over 100 Senators any day.
I might be a day late, but don't think I am a dollar short. They are not in the process of making up. Musk is kicking around starting a third party, and Trump has threatened him with consequences if he gives money to democrat candidates. Trump also said he had no desire to talk to Musk. Not quite two people making up
I would dispute your claim that Musk did a lot of good. He did some, but his original statement was to cut 2 trillion dollars of waste, quickly backed down to 1 trillion dollars, and ending up somewhere around 150 billion. 150 billion is certainly something that should be eliminated from government. I am sure there is more that can be cut. But his approach was all wrong. It was like pruning a bush with a chainsaw when you should do it with hand held pruning devices. It took decades, even a good part of a century for the government to get this bloated, it can't be undone in a few years. To do it effectively you need to start systematically cutting. DOGE was not only meant to cut the federal work force, it was supposed to make the federal work force more efficient. So far it as achieved 1/2 of that goal, it has eliminated some of the work force. It has not made it more efficient, it has made it less. Research Social Security call wait times. They had actually gone down under 1 hour, which is incredibly bad to begin with. Since DOGE took over, they are now over 3 hour wait phone hold times. Good job. NOT.
I agree that 100 senators and even 435 representatives won't solve the problem. Congress sucks. But someone with a little patience and not wielding a chain saw approach can get the job done. Do it the right way, or don't even try. Musk did not do it the right way. He did it the way he has done with smaller companies. That was like steering a small speed boat, he might have been good at that. The government is like the Dali that hit the Key Bridge, big and very tough to turn quickly. The same methods would not work and he failed to understand that.
You have to be in it for the long haul, or else it is destined to fail.
