The people who attended the meeting concerning the Lusby Town Center Plan at Dowell Elementary, the night the Commissioners voted to accept the plan... were sold a park...
The whole idea was the Town Center would be centered around a park, with trees and walking paths and small family type stores....
The land for the park was supposed to be donated.... After much screaming and shouting ... we have a huge grocery store, a big parking lot and no sign of a family type park... The deed has not changed hands.... this was supposed to have happened months ago....According to the rumor mill Johnny Gott is to blame.... people say that he is not going to donate the land.
Now... I have spoken with Mr. Gott. He says that the County promissed him permits months ago... but he hasn't received the permits. He says that he is afraid that if he gives them the deed he will never get his permits....
Meanwhile... to be fair... there may very well be a meaner... and bigger villian involved in this issue.... but Johnny Gott [well actually Brett Guy the contact at Osprey Construction] is not willing to name the other villian in public because the whole thing may be coming to an end as soon as the end of the month. .. I agreed to wait until April even though I would love to call this snake out....
I am boycotting the Fastop stores, all Food Lion Stores in Calvert County and all other Gott properties until we get the park....
If we go to the first of next month and this situation has not been straightened out... I will be putting a name on the other party who is alledged to be holding up the park....
A boycott against this other party [if necessary] will be nearly impossible... [and it's not the county government....] but I will do my best.....
I know this is probably clear as mud... but basically I am boycotting to draw attention to the fact we were promissed a park and we want a park.... the families of Lusby must not be the victims of a bait & switch...
