Jake & Al's ...

Guy that owns Adams also owns Jake & Al's...the name comes from his two sons. He manages J&A's and one of his associates manages Adams (since the opening of J&A's). I cannot believe the owner would allow J&A's to go downhill but the last time I went, it wasn't very good.

I stand corrected. I guess my college friend just manages the local Adam's here, but I thought he was the part-owner with a small group. He originally had his own restaurant (very successful) and then went into business with these other people and changed the restaurant name...same with another college friend who had one over in the Annapolis area, but that was a long time ago. I love the Adam's here. I will not be going to Jake and Al's. It's a shame because the initial reviews for Jake and Al's were so good.

All these negative comments about Jake & Al's...has anyone thought to tell the manager/owner? I am sure he/she would make it right, they just need to know.

In the beginning, we did tell J of the problems. I just gave up because there are too many local places (PF) that are decent.

I guess he is complacent with what's he got going on???? Well that new brewery will be opening up soon next to the Hilton, everyone will be flocking there!

I'm just curious if there has been a change in cooks or something for such a dramatic turn of events at Jake & Al's. When they first opened, everyone raved about them and talked about how good the food was. Now it is mediocre? Sounds like something happened in the kitchen and the quality took a hit. They will know soon enough when they aren't able to fill the tables every evening and the receipts go down.

Here is the information on Adam's from their website: Adam's Ribs | About Adam's

About Adam's

The Bagdasian family opened Adam's - the Place for Ribs in 1981. The original location in Edgewater, Maryland, has been owned and operated by the family as a neighborhood restaurant since 1965. Since then, Adam's has opened four more locations in Severna Park, Annapolis/Eastport, Prince Frederick and Fruitland/Salisbury, and sells over 200,000 pounds of ribs per year. Each general manager is a partner who had once managed in Edgewater.

Adam's plans to slowly continue this expansion throughout the state of Maryland and other neighboring states!

Last I checked, Jaime Padilla manages Adam's and that is who owns Jake & Al's. I don't think he owns Adam's per se.

Thank you for the info.

If you ever want a kick in the rear check out the Adam's in Salisbury/Fruitland (not so out of the way if making a trip to OC) They have homemade stuffed jalapenos (chicken/cheese and salsa) I can't resist, even though they make me cry.

:faint: Wish I could do that! They sound  but my body would go into convulsions if I put jalapenos in it!

My body pretty much does. :lmao: The restaurant was originally called Rosko's Grille. I call these suckers "Rosko's Revenge". When he went into partnership with Adam's I begged for the jalapenos. He acquiesced, and they have been on the menu for 15 years after the change.
I should have begged for the deep fried chicken chimichanga as well.

Now that sounds wonderful! I think I could probably handle a deep fried chicken anything. My body responds very well to the words "deep fried" - that's why I'm "upgrading" my wardrobe!

You are correct. Bill Bagdasian is the owner of Adam's Ribs in Edgewater... I was born and raised there and half of my family lives there. I am not sure if he 'owns' all of them. I will have to ask as my aunt's father is now the general manager of the Edgewater location.

Jake & Al's was so good when they first opened... My DH personally knows 'J' and most of the staff. Last week I had him get me the Ciabatta Crab Toast that I LOVE and it was nothing like it used to be. NO crab meat/no imperial... And it is now marked 'market price' as opposed to the $9 or so it used to be. I believe it was almost $15.

It was lightly fried (not greasy) and full of veggies/chicken and cheese. Definitely a days worth of calories, though. I piled mine high with sour cream and the homemade salsa.

If I was still in the clothing business I could sell you an entire new wardrobe.

But if I bought it from you, I would lose the excuse to get away from the husband for awhile to get a new something-or-another because "I don't have anything to wear!" :lmao:

Nah, hubby wants you looking good. Clothes that don't fit are not good.

Don't worry. I've retired.

I now wear spandex and shop at Walmart.

The Mexico restaurant that recently opened in Lusby serves a pretty good chimichanga. I've only had the beef, but all their food is good, so I'd imagine the chicken is as well. It's the best of all the Mexican restaurants around, though the one in San Souchi is pretty close.
