Father time is still undefeated against way passed their time boxers.

Jake doesn't feel as good about that win as he thought he would. But that $20M should make Tyson feel eh-static!

Didn't anyone else watch?? I want to talk about it! :tantrum:

Tyson was only there for the money and I can respect that. Everyone involved made a fortune and I was highly entertained, especially with a couple of the undercard fights. Sure, Tyson is 58 but he looked like Joe Biden out there.

Jake Paul rehabbed his reputation with me. He's normally an obnoxious prick but he showed Tyson respect and sparred with him rather than going all in and humiliating the man. Before last night I could see him knocking Tyson down just to say he'd done it, then bragging about it. But he showed respect and humility, and I appreciate that.

But it was clearly all a set up and not a real fight, or even a proper exhibition. I feel like I'm rehashing an episode of Yellowstone and talking about the characters like they're real people.

Now, who is going to get in trouble for sanctioning this fight? What next, will they officially sanction Hogan vs Roddy Piper at Wrestlemania 2030?

I'd watch that :yahoo:

I kept thinking that Tyson was playing possum, just waiting for Paul to drop his guard so he could lay him out, but Paul spent the last 4 rounds not even bothering to put 'em up, gave Tyson a number of clear and easy shots, and Tyson didn't go for it. THAT would have been exciting.

Tyson had the ability to do some damage in the first 2 rounds. After that he ran out of steam. That is understandable, given his age. Paul feared Tyson's power the entire time. That is why he never did a full on assault and try for a knockout. Tyson could have countered the attack and 1 good punch ends JP.
Paul should win by a close decision. He will poke and run around Tyson. The iron man will show his ring rust and won't be able to catch Paul. Paul could literally jog around the ring for 2 minutes and occasionally throw a jab at Tyson. Tyson won't be able to connect because he won't be able to catch Paul flat footed.
Nailed it with this prediction.

So the "news" people are saying this was a total debacle, criticizing Netflix, the fighters, blah blah.

I had very few problems with my stream. It coughed a couple of times and my resolution wasn't crystal clear for some of it, but for the most part it was fine. Certainly not a catastrophic deal breaker.

I thought the fight was fine. Anyone who expected Tyson to be 40 years younger is delusional and deserves to be disappointed. It was an exhibition, done to make money like celebrity boxing. It was good to see Iron Mike out there and I was pleasantly surprised by Jake's demeanor. He showed proper humility and grace, so now I'm revising my opinion of him. Maybe. A little.

I get tired of the media gaslighting me. I know what I saw.

There were 2 Mike Tysons fighting the other night. 1 Mike fought the first 2 rounds. Then the lesser of the 2 Mikes finished the fight. Historically in the fights where Tyson doesn't dominate from the beginning, he got frustrated and gave up in the later rounds. Friday that point came early, between rounds 2 & 3.

Will Netflix host more boxing events? I guess that will depend on how this fight affected their bottom line. But ditch Rosie Perez as a commentator. I guess Martha Stewart had a previous engagement and wasn't available. Christy Martin would add some validation to the commenting crew if you insist on having a female commentator.
