Brown was hospitalized with pneumonia at Emory Crawford Long Hospital on Sunday and died around 1:45 a.m. Monday

Another death we did not see coming I woke up this morning not to open my presents (I stall for awhile to wait for my mom) and the first thing I put on was cnn and they said that he died I'm like they're kidding.

That's how I felt about Gerald Levert. I'm still not over that yet. But, God has his reasons.

There's a reason pneumonia is known as the old person's friend. Most don't linger long if they're destined to die and it's not that miserable a way to go at that age. I'll miss his flamboyant music.

I was a mere child, when I snuck into Carr's Beach (outside Annapolis) one Sunday afternoon, to watch James Brown perform. I was blown away.
I saw him again in a club called the Rhapsody Club outside Glen Burnie-only 15 folks in the whole club-he performed like the place was SRO-he was a real showman.
He sure had his problems off stage as well as on...RIP James.

Brown's personal life was marked by several brushes with the law. At the age of 16, was arrested for theft and served 3 years in prison. Adrienne Rodriegues, his third wife, had him arrested four times on charges of assault between the mid-1980s and mid-1990s. Brown also served 2 years of a 6 year jail sentence after he led police on a car chase across the Georgia-South Carolina border in 1988. He was convicted of carrying an unlicensed pistol and assaulting a police officer, along with various drug-related and driving offenses.

I can respect his musical abilities.
