...in response to your karma message;

You tell your mom I understand how she could take offense and that I meant none. JB, for all his human faults, transcended race and class and brought joy to so many, many people. That can't be said of very many.

And tell your Aunt she's the kind of person I make comments like that for! Give her a hug from me! I think she and I both think James would have laughed too. :larry:

Happy Holidays!

Brown's personal life was marked by several brushes with the law. At the age of 16, was arrested for theft and served 3 years in prison. Adrienne Rodriegues, his third wife, had him arrested four times on charges of assault between the mid-1980s and mid-1990s. Brown also served 2 years of a 6 year jail sentence after he led police on a car chase across the Georgia-South Carolina border in 1988. He was convicted of carrying an unlicensed pistol and assaulting a police officer, along with various drug-related and driving offenses.

I can respect his musical abilities.

Though i do wish he rests in peace, I can not respect a man for his voice when his actions speak louder. He was a completely different person on stage. He may have been a great entertainer, but so was OJ Simpson and I doubt anyone will be singing his praises when he passes away.

Make sure you update your wills folks!

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The 5-year-old child of James Brown and his partner, Tomi Rae Hynie( :killingme-sorry) , is not included in the will read Thursday to six of the entertainer's children, attorneys for the late singer say.

While the will provides for six children, Hynie's son, James Jr., is not one of those listed in the document, attorney Strom Thurmond Jr. told The Associated Press.

The will was read Thursday in Aiken but has not been filed in probate court, said Buddy Dallas, another Brown attorney. The gates to his home were locked soon after his death, Dallas said, until attorneys could get the estate's legal affairs in order.

The house is owned by the trust and "has been that way since August of 2000," Dallas said. "Technically, the trustees own it for the benefit of the trust. It was not in the name of James Brown and hasn't been that way for years."

Hynie's attorney, Thornton Morris, said he doesn't know anything about the will. "She was locked out of the house so she doesn't know where the will that's being probated was found," Morris said of his client. "She has no knowledge to when this particular will was executed."

And poor old James's body lies in a climate controlled room till this mess is straightened out. :rolleyes:
