Janet Yellen wants to tax our real estate appreciation

This would devastate the middle class, of course, but I have a question:

Isn't that what property taxes are all about? To stick it to people who have the temerity to own their own home in Amerika? As your home appreciates, don't they typically raise your property taxes? Because that is my understanding, so what's this new tax all about?

Tucker just did a segment about it, and showed the clip of Yellen defending it to Congress.

Yellen also wants to abolish the debt ceiling, so she's clearly batshit crazy (which is what I expect from Democrat appointees).

Cute.

But we learned just this week your understanding of our debt-based currency and government spending is shaky at best, so maybe you should just sit this one out, mmkay?

It seems that the "new tax" would be that the Federal government would be taxing the property as well as state and local governments. Something that they currently don't do.

No comment at this time. But I am sure if the government is talking “taxation” I am bound to get screwed in the long one especially owning a few hundred acres in several states.

I will wait until i resident expert on financial matters hemihauler chimes in.

Okay, that answered my question. Thank you!

Damn, can you imagine that? Property taxes in many cities/states are already high - Monello's mom in NJ pays almost $1000/mo in property taxes and it's just a regular house in a modest neighborhood. If the fed rakes her she won't be able to afford to keep her home.

That's pretty much the point of the tax.

Another nail in the coffin of private property.

So far he's shown his expertise by insulting me for asking and laughing at....I guess Tucker Carlson showing a clip of Janet Yellen, not sure.

It's probably pre-adolescent infatuation syndrome.

He pulls the pretty girls pony tail because he doesn't know how to express himself. :sshrug:

Just sneakin' around....
Back in the early 90s I was paying $6000/yr in NY because part of my property was in a protected buffer. Everyone else was $10K. Moved here, was paying $1800/yr. It's just about doubled now to a whopping $3200/yr.

My brother and SIL are in north Jersey = $17k/yr. I'm close to $7k/yr at our place and that is still too high for the "services" I receive from the county.

And they wonder why people flee to the red States.
