JENA, La. — A black teenager whose prosecution in the beating of a white classmate led to one of the largest civil rights protests in years pleaded guilty Monday to a misdemeanor battery charge that could see him released from a detention center in about eight months.

FOXNews.com - 'Jena Six' Black Teen Pleads Guilty to Misdemeanor Battery in Deal With Prosecutors - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News

Will this story make the news....?
FOX News and MSNBC were talking about.

I wonder why CNN, which firtst covered this as national news, isn't following up when it doesn't fit their "Everybody is racist" agenda.

It's never been debated that he actually beat the kid up. What was in question was the severity and the attempted murder charge.

I still think it's racist bull####.

Thousands demonstrated against the severity of the charge.

One day we wil see if the severity was warranted, when this dipstick commits his next crime after release. Hopefully we dont get another Sean Taylor from the result.

By jailing this kid over a provoked schoolyard fight, it's almost guaranteed that he'll get in trouble again when he gets out.

I don't know how you get past an attempted murder charge (charged as an adult, no less) when the victim didn't require hospitalization and went out running around that very night.

Of course its his being jailed because of this fight that will make this kid a criminal. There is always an excuse. Now tell me why he has a prior record.

What caused that?

One of the things that annoys me about today's touchy-feely society is that there's no "peer review" (which is what we called it when I was in school) anymore. Back in the day, if you acted the ass, someone would adjust your attitude for you and you'd learn.

Now nobody learns because you get thrown in jail for slapping some sense into them. So they grow up to be the kind of adults who park in front of the Wal-Mart, blocking the fire lane, and breastfeed in public.

Back when I was in school and we fought, it was over when someone hit the ground for good. We didn't have half a dozen of us stompin a guy after he was knocked out and down for the count. It was always one on one, which is the way it should be, and when it is over, it is OVER!

... and went out running around that very night.

You keep bringing this up. But the fact of the matter is the kid did not go running around that very night. He showed up for a short period of time to pick up his class ring and went home to bed rather than stay around for the party.

Whether he died on the spot or was released from the E.R. after the assault, the intent of the baboons that attacked him is what determines whether it was attempted murder. They kept beating and kicking him when he was down and defeated, that tells you their intent.

When Reagan was shot, it was attempted murder whether he lived or got sent home after the E.R. finished with him. In fact, had he died, it would not have been misdemeanor assault, it would have been murder.

Do you think it was honestly their intent to kill this kid? 6 on 1, not enough damage to even warrant a hospital stay? Kid goes out that night?

Not a very good "attempt", if you ask me.

Nobody accuesed any of these guys of being smart or effective. That may explain why they jumped an innocent bystander solely based on the color of his skin. Had the nooses been available, it could have been a lynching.

Didn't you ever get in fights when you were in high school?

What did you get charged with?

The reason this whole thing is called the Jenna 6 is because there were 6 of them.. Stomping 1 of them... When I was a kid I did get in fights in school but it was 1 on 1. But if me and my friends decided to be wusses and jumped some kid I would probably have been charged with FELONY assault, as would my 5 friends.

Yeah yeah. And if a gun had been available, there could have been a shooting. And if it was a girl, there could have been a rape. Yadda yadda.

You're not going to convince me that a schoolyard fight, where the victim went out running that night, is attempted murder. You're just not. And you're also not going to convince me that these kids weren't highly provoked.

I agree with the dismissal of attempted murder charges but to reduce the charges down to a a misdemeanor offense is idiotic.. The officials fell sway to political pressure and the folks of Jenna will be less safe because of the outcome... These 6 will strike again..
