I'll probably catch hell for this but I just saw him as an older generation's Dave Matthews Band.
It's always interesting to me how people can have such wildly varying opinions on something that to me seems cut and dried. Jimmy Buffett's music spans four generations so far, and I have no doubt my great grandkids will be singing along to "Margaritaville" at some beach bar in 30 years. And yet there are a handful of people who don't even know who he is. To me that's like not knowing who The Beatles are.
Not busting on your take, just marveling at the variety of human thought.
Most creative people are mentally ill, and they also cocoon themselves with other mentally ill creatives to create a hivemind. They're also not terribly intelligent. It doesn't mean you can't enjoy their output, it just means they aren't someone you'd necessarily want around you in real life.
To Buffett's credit he wasn't on Twitter threatening Trump supporters with death, or threatening to kidnap and rape Trump's preteen son. So that makes him a bit different than your average everyday Democrat celebrity.

Honestly I wouldn't know who he was if it wasn't for a friend of mine in college. I can say the same thing about Phish, which has a similar following. I was really into punk, hair metal, and then later grunge.
Why is that even remotely worth commenting on?
The first time someone told me they'd never heard of George Thorogood. I was like....what....??? How can that even be??
So another vote the dems can count forever.

It's a very isolated lifestyle, never know who your friends are and who is just using you. The alcohol and drug use doesn't help matters either.
The narcissism and detachment from reality ....how would you like to be Madonna's kid? Yikes.

I've never been to one of his concerts, but I've always loved him and his music. It's just timeless, it's fun, and (like Kom said)takes you to a state of mind. That's what great music and entertainers do.
