My father is retired military and worked in the private sector for 6 years at one company and has recently become unemployed. I feel terrible for him and I am trying to help as much as possible, editing his resume and cover letter, searching for jobs on the internet and sending his resume to jobs that he is qualified for and I have sent his resume to a few employment placement agencies. He’s always been a very hard worker and really does not deserve the stress of being out of work, especially during the holidays. He’s putting up a good front and spending his part of his days hunting, but I know he is bothered by this and is feeling stressed. Financially my parents are fine, my mother works and my father has his retirement so the bills are being paid.

He’s investigating his contacts at Andrews to see what contract positions are available and which ones he is qualified for. I’m posting on here to see if anyone knows of a position that he would be a candidate for. He was in the Air Force and his career consisted of managing air terminals and air hangers. He has spent the last six years as an Operations Manager at a local flooring company. If anyone knows of any openings that he might be qualified for please let me know and I will forward his resume.

Thanks

Looks like your dad should put his rifle down and hit up some of the local Job Fairs that normally have 10-30 companies recruiting retired military...

Other sites to consider

Militaryhire.com
USAjobs.com
SOMD classified (employment section)
Monster jobs.com
DefenseCareers.com
DefenseEngineers.com
IntelligenceCareers.com
& USACareerEvents.com

Good Luck... :coffee:

My mother has cracked down on him and made him put the bow away for a few days. Thanks for the sites, I've sent him the information.

With his training, he should be able to walk into any defense contractor or the employment office on Pax and get a job on the spot.

I doubt this will help, but my dad gave up retirement - he was too bored - and got a job as a contractor with Homeland Security. I wish I had more to suggest, except that his years of experience with safety and environmental concerns were a big plus.
