The RIAA.And who said legally copying anything was against the law. That is idiotic. If you are legally copying something then you are doing just that!
Google it.
This is exactly where Viacom's going.

Ok, so what happens in the case where YouTube vids are posted on this forum? Is the IP address of the ISP we are using gleaned, or the IP address of the SoMD forum servers and/or ISP ?
Good question! Does that mean I can't post a YouTube video with CBS on TV in the background because they'll come after my meager pension?

No, don't need any of that. Show me where legally copying something is illegal? You can't!
Read the stuff. No, don't need any of that. Show me where legally copying something is illegal? You can't!
Read the stuff.
People are having their homes raided by the RIAA (thanks to liberal judges) everyday for just that.
It's been all over the Washington Post. And I can't help you if you're too damn dumb to find it.
I have no trust in the entertainment industry.

[RIAA says ripping CDs is illegal, RIAA goes to judges to conduct raids on peoples' homes, judges give RIAA permission, thus it's become illegal to legally rip a CD.
First I will state I am not a fan of the RIAA...I understand the point their making. But Your statement above makes it seem like they are picking people at random. There has to be probable cause for these actions to happen. Remember they still have to go through due process. And I believe any judge who is signing these willy nilly will not be a judge for long. Read my sig, this is what they're looking for....and to some degree what you're spreading...if you're ripping your CDs and putting them on your mp3 player I SERIOUSLY doubt they will come knocking on your door. But if you upload them or peer to peer them, well you're just asking for them to come knocking.

I shouldn't have to Google your own #### for you.

is also a bit idiotic. Liberal judges would be more inclined to deny the search warrant based on individual rights, while conservative judges would side with the more narrow view that the business has it's own rights.People are having their homes raided by the RIAA (thanks to liberal judges) everyday for just that

Dude if it is Illegal, then it is not Legal Copying ....
you care to rephrase that .....
This is what I am trying to get across to this guy but he doesn't get it. Now as to your other points. When you buy something in a media form, that is what you purchased. You don't have the right to copy that to another media form. I am not saying it is right, I am just simply stating you can't copy your Toby Keith or whatever to give to your friends.
It hurts to type, butDude if it is Illegal, then it is not Legal Copying ....
you care to rephrase that .....
the point here is, Music Company Execs, are trying to say, have offered testimony in court, that their opinion is ...
making a copy of a CD either in a disk to disk format, or by reducing the file size and making MP3's that are more easily stored Illegal
when you 'Buy' a CD, your licensing the right to listen to that music .... but once you have licensed the rights to listen to a paticular song, music companies, through RIAA, wants to control the particular format you use to listen .....
back when I was Teen, we still bought Records on Vinyl .... and the 1st tape recorder I had was an 8 Track, and later a Cassette, an I would make my own mix tapes .... with RIAA's thinking I would have been guilty of CRI, for recording my legally owned records onto tape, for later use in my CAR ....
this is only expanded by an order of magnitude these days with the internet and file sharing ....
no one thought twice about going over to a friends house and recording tracks off their albums to take back home or play in the car.... or how about recording songs off of the radio ......
the internet has just allowed friends to share music on a global scale .... and the harder they squeeze the more people will pirate music just to thumb there noses @ RIAA and such ...
the last CD I bought was a Toby Keith CD, after going to a concert ... in 05 before that was the MiB soundtrack ... and when did that movie come out ?
music IMHO sucked and was not worth paying $15 bucks for a CD with one good song ....
I've already had to spend $65 on a new DVD player because the MPAA changed the disc encoding standards to make DVD burners and DVD Recorders obsolete. What's next?
Regular DVDs. I had a huge rant session a while back.
are you talking about an HD DVD or Blue Ray player .... with the encryption that keeps getting broken
and what do the IP Addresses have to do with this:
Judge tells YouTube to turn over viewing logs to Viacom
ACK! They're going to see that I watched the Wii-Fit hula-hoop girl 7000 times this weekend. That sucks!
