The difference between what I did as a kid and perhaps what would happen to most kids today is:
If my parents knew what I was doing that I shouldn't have been doing, and I KNEW I shouldn't be doing it, I would have had my ass kicked and been grounded for a month.
If I had broken my neck, they would have dealt with it instead of suing everyone from the bridge builder to the county.
They wouldn''t have their face plastered all over the news for having a quadrapalegic kid and warning all parents about the dangers of kids jumping off bridges.

:dingding:ABSOLUTELY!

The thing that bothers me is that while all these police and medics, fire dept were rushing to the scene, a bad accident could have occured elsewhere or someone else could have been seriously injured and in dire need of help.
It has been discussed a lot on the forums about the people that abuse the system for a free ride to the hospital. Most EMT volunteers will tell you that they spend a lot of time as a taxi service because it is "free". It is really going to piss me off if I have or someone I love has; a true emergency and the medics are not available because they are giving someone a ride to the emergency room for the 3rd time that week for a headache or a stomach ache.

It really is ridiculous. My ex was a medic for the fdny for a while in the ghettos of the Bronx. Talk about losers who have it all figured out. They milk every system known to man. Free housing (w/ 8 kids), free food, no jobs, free transportation from the fdny. I was a little surprised to hear that it's no different down here.

That was my point, the plane crash is an accident, therefore a NECESSARY rescue. I agree with you 100%, these rescue workers, volunteer or paid are not there, risking their own lives, so idiots can get a thrill and then screw up.

That's for sure!

Yep, same here. And it'll be the same with my little boy when he's old enough to pull crap like this. I wasn't an angel growing up but I've never had first responders called to rescue me for stupidity.
