Installed an 8 Track Player in the car, paid 30cents to get into a movie, snuck friends in your trunk into a drive-in movie, put a penny on the needle of your record player to keep it from skipping.
... got it for free when a friend upgraded to cassette.
Carvel soft serve was 25 cents for the LARGE cone.

And wedged a matchbook in with the tape cartridge so it didn't play two songs at once!
Ugh, rotary dial phones. And if you goofed up you had to hang up and start all over again.
I remember placing collect pay phone calls to my mom from "I'll be home in an hour".

Or pick me up at Hillsdale, Valco or Mayfield (the mall). Or making emergency breakthrough's when the number you're calling has been busy for too long.
We used to call person-to-person and ask for ourselves. A "we're fine, see you soon" implied message, didn't cost either party a penny.
When I was in college I worked at a shop in Hyattsville, Md. “Car Sounds”. We installed an 8 track, with a slip mount, 2 speakers for $19.99. We used duct tape to attach the cheap speakers to the kick plates. And for $49.99 we would install an AM FM 8 track!!!

Catching lightning bugs in a jar. I've seen a total of ten so far this year, way down from what I saw last year. I'm thinking that in the not-too-distant future there won't be any at all, at least not in certain areas. That's kind of sad; it's one of the things I look for at the beginning of summer.

When I was younger (much, much younger) I would go out on my dad's boat with him. Just the two of us, and I loved spending time with him until......he started up the 8-track player installed on the boat. The only 8-track he owned was of John Denver. Now, I love JD as much as the next person, but I think my dad tormented me on purpose by playing it back-to-back-to back. All damn day long it was John Denver. It didn't bother him since he turned down his hearing aids and he didnt mind the repetition.
Man, I wish I could be back on St. Jerome's Creek with my dad in his boat listening to JD.
And making "jewelry" out of their butts.
