I think the Supreme Court ruling was total bull. Now, it gives the schools absolute power to suspend whatever kid they want for talking about something they can call illegal, or against school rules.
The problem is the impact this will have on creativity, debates, etc.
The sign "Bong hits for Jesus" does not have a DIRECT reference to marijuana or any other illegal substance (even though it was the intended message). So now, the schools can limit free speech and suspend/expel kids for comments they might (deliberately) take out of context.
Think this doesn't happen? Think again. Go back to the girl who was put in juvy for pushing a hall monitor. I believe, while she should've been put in juvy, that at some point, the school did target her.
