Katana VS Longsword...

When I fought fully armored full contact medieval style foot combat, one of our chapter members when I was in Florida had a black belt in Kenjutsu. I regularly beat him as I was not locked into a style.
Having handled many "battle ready" swords, never thought i wanted a Katana or Japanese style blade.
This is about half my collection of swords. I also have a LOT of knives, many axes, a few spear plus maces and war hammers.

Actually, it's a Persian Qama. The grip is buffalo horn cut to the shape of the tang.
I do own a Pompeii pattern Gladius...
...and Pugio.
I also have Roman chainmail body armor with padded undertunic and helmet.
I actively participated in pre-1600 historic re-creation as a recreation from 78 - 08.
Most of the personae I had were from late 1st Century to early early 16th Century.
