""Sesame Street" started previewing its 41st season on the Web this week, releasing teaser clips featuring stars like Jude Law, Will.i.am, Colin Farrell, and Run-DMC's Reverend Run. One of the shorts, however, got a lot more attention than the rest: a two-and-a-half minute video of pop star Katy Perry singing a reworked version of her 2008 hit "Hot N Cold" with Elmo. The issue: the perception that Perry's outfit wasn't appropriate for a show geared toward children ages one to six."

I was gonna post this myself...


This may be one of those 'i'm not a parent yet" moments..but I am not seeing why this is such a huge story or why they yanked it. are there better things to wear to the taping of a toddler show? heck yes. But I highly doubt two year olds are going to pay much attention to what she is wearing...I would be a little more bothered if it were a tween show than sesame street. But really..look at tinkerbelle lately? her skirt is waaaaay short :killingme

My kids watch sesame street and I am not all up in arms over it.. but come on common sense people. It's like she wore that outfit only for the negative press it would receive.

I can see it both ways.

On the one hand its like women need to hide their boobs lets anybody see the outline of their shape through their clothes.

But on the other hand, is she trying to look sexy for a pre-school audience (though it appears from the clip that she was playing dress up and thats why she was in those clothes).

Well, not even "boobies". Cleavage.

Little kids aren't going to notice anything "sexual" about that. Half of the younger ones probably think "dinner", if anything at all.
Primarily just members of the Uptight Purity Brigade seeing anything wrong with what she's wearing.

So it would have been fine with you to have your 4 year old kid sitting there watching Sesame Street when a voluptuous blonde pops on there in a bikini singing and chasing Elmo around?

She's not what I would call voluptuous and it wasn't a bikini. And, yes. Kids feed off of a parents' hysteria.

You threw the beach/swimming pool comparison in there so I went there. If it's good enough for the beach or pool then why no Sesame Street? I mean that was your assertion. :shrug:
