Trump has now decided that lethal defensive weapons constitute “appropriate assistance.” His decision to approve small amounts of weapons sales likely won’t fundamentally change Putin’s calculus or the trajectory of the war in Ukraine. But it’s one sure sign that Trump’s foreign policy views are evolving — or at least being influenced — as his presidency progresses.

So Katy Tur is correct...Trump or Trump's people removed overt language about providing arms to the Ukraine in the 2016 Republican platform (if you ACTUALLY READ THE DAMNED ARTICLE you will see that Congress passed legislation authorizing this...but Obama Admin did not act on it)

Glad you posted this - I kept re-reading the article trying to figure out if I was in fact reading it wrong.
Somehow, Katy changed or got wrong that they decided NOT to arm Ukraine, which is false, when
in fact they merely changed the language to be less overtly offensive.

I can in fact arm my friend with an assault rifle and deem it "appropriate".

It's not as though many in Washington don't alter their words to avoid offending the wrong people -
while all along meaning the same thing.
