Kevin’s kind of went down hill after he put the raw bar in. Spoiled oysters were served at one point and I don’t think there was enough customers to make up for the money spent.

Last time I was there, I got the stuffed flounder. Overcooked and dry outside, cold, wet and mushy inside, and it wasn't cheap. I'll spend well for good food, but this wasn't.

I tried the willows location once after I was told they had great fried chicken. It was so salty, I couldn't eat it. Tried it two other times at potlucks, same.

Oh crap I didn't know that. Although I've only eaten there twice; both times were in the last five months and the food was great. Fried oysters for me, stuffed shrimp for my boyfriend. Huge portions, friendly service, homey type atmosphere, nothing too fancy pants. It put me a bit in mind of Chiefs and I love that restaurant. I'll miss that place, not too far up the road, when we wanted to relax with more than one beer.

Because people in SoMD don't know how to eat. They pack Appleby's and Outback, but won't go to locally owned places with any regularity.
Ugh. Went to Applebee's for lunch not too terribly long ago. Service was fast but in the middle of the meal, which was only so so, my friend pointed out how dirty the ceiling was. They had just renovated and he said they should have included the popcorn ceiling which was sooty looking. Well I looked up, then I started looking around and noticed how dirty the rugs were, then that it smelled musty. Then I got a mild case of the dry heaves.

Then a week later, we ate at Outback because he had a $50.00 gift card. I don't get why everyone raves about a bloomin' onion. It's so greasy and the sauce was disgusting. I HAD to eat cheesecake just to wash out the taste.

I believe that location is a curse. After Willows, the other restaurants haven't lasted long. I imagine it needs a tear down and rebuild but then no local restauranteur could afford the place.

Like it was built on an Indian burial ground or something. There are a couple of locations in SMC (and Solomons) that should have done really well but every restaurant that goes in them dies.

I'm not saying this is their reason, but they make these ready-made breadings - like Golden Dipt and House of Autry etc -- and you think they are plain looking and need seasoning, but they are all heavily salted already. If they add more salt, Old Bay, it can make it crazy salty.

That may be - but it's no guarantee of quality, either. Wife and I went to the restaurant that replaced the old Captain's Table. Virtually everything was awful. Never going back.

I use House Autry breading and can attest to this. I tried to add Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning once. It was almost too salty to eat. Never again.
