Kids and coffee

That is something that usually ends at some point. I doubt she's planning on staying that way forever.

I always joked that I wanted to give birth to a 3 or 4 year old because I understand them and know what to do with them, but babies terrify me BUT I didn't want to be pregnant for 3 or 4 years. I wish scientists would have figured this out for me. I think its too late now though.

Would you feel this way if they were drinking hot or iced tea instead? It can have the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee or a shot of espresso.

I would be more concerned about those Monster drinks with the super high doses of caffeine.

Agreed.
I started drinking coffee when I was 13; kinda like a passage into adulthood.
Nobody had a problem with it then; but they do now. Before we got a Keurig one-cup coffee maker, I would make a 12 cup pot and drink it by myself over the course of a day. Now, I drink three, maybe four 8 oz. (approx.) cups a day.

I started on coffee (mochas, actually) when I was about 9. They were a treat, not an all day, every day sort of beverage. I think I started drinking regular coffee in high school. I was also raised in Washington state with espresso shacks on every street corner, so that could have some bearing.

I jokingly tell my husband that we won't start the older munchkin on coffee until he's at least 3, but I'm honestly going to delay it for as long as is feasible. We don't have a coffee pot in the house, I keep my Keurig at work. I also don't go out for fancy schmancy coffee on a regular basis because it costs double here what it did in WA. If I do happen to get one and will be consuming it where kiddo can see me, he gets a chocolate milk type beverage instead. I wish I'd delayed the chocolate thing longer, I've created a (very cute) monster.

:offtopic: kinda...

I used all of my Dad's Bailey's my senior year thinking it was coffee creamer. How could he be mad at that? I legitimately thought it was creamer. Why else would it say "Bailey's Irish CREAM"

Dingbat me...

The girlies and stopped at WaWa for gas one morning and I decided I wanted coffee, too. I saw the hazelnut and thought YAY! I made it about five miles up the road before I realized I filled the whole cup with creamer. And no coffee. :stupid:

This is why I go to Starbucks.

And this is how rumors start...

From 2007 to 2011, the number of emergency hospital visits involving the highly caffeinated energy drinks doubled — from 10,068 to 20,783, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

While the number of young patients increased the most, the highest percentage of increase in emergency room visits attributed to the beverages was found in patients age 40 and over. The older patients went from 1,382 related visits in 2007 to 5,233 visits in 2011 — a 279 percent increase, the study said.
