Kids at my house

Roberta

OLD WISE ONE
Kids are always at my house. After school, and all night. If there is a day off (like tomarrow) there is one, if not three spending the night. Tonight I have one. Last weekend 3 both nights. Is this normal? I don't care because it keeps the kids busy and I know where my kids are.
My husband thinks I am the big sucker in the neighborhood. I am cool with it.
What say you?
I'd rather have the kids here, that way I know what my kids are doing.

Been there, done that....stop it now....It only gets worse....you will have those kids there every time there is no school....you will be buying $300 worth of groceries only for them to disappear in 2 days....nip it in the bud!
:yeahthat: And the parents of those kids are getting free babysitting.

I miss those days.

It was great having a house full of kids, because you could send most of them home later.

:yeahthat: I loved having the kids around. The teenagers were great! The weekends was always a giant sleepover. I miss cooking the tons of pancakes, eggs, juice..and cooking 30 burgers on the grill for the hockey team!

I always had my brother and sister's kids, too, when they were young.

:frown:

Ed Zachary! I know where my kids are and everyone has fun. My daughter (16y.o.) had 6 kids over last night. 4 spent the night. (boys went home!)
When I was growing up our house was where everyone ended up. I love it.

I got a break with only one spending the night last night.

I'm glad that my kids have friends and I'm glad that they all think our house is a cool place to hang out, play pool, etc., but sometimes I just want peace and quiet and my own family only around me, you know?

And they also hang out in my yard all the time and it drives me crazy when I pull up after work and there's just a big pile of ice cream wrappers and cans and stuff all over.

I can totally see me in a few years being the "Hey you kids - get offa my lawn" guy on the block.

This is true.
One day there were 13 kids here on bikes. I looked out front and it looked like a motorcycle gang had converged on my lawn.:killingme

I have 3 sleep sofas in my house. 3 of them. And most of them have bodies in them on the weekends.

I don't mind one bit. Like everyone else has said, I know where my kids are, I know who they're hanging with, and most importantly, I know WHAT they are doing.

I'd much rather spend extra money in food for their friends and know they're safe, than to even think of the alternatives.

I had 19 spend the night last year when Ernesto rolled through. We had a team party planned that night, which was cancelled. Since everyone had made dishes for the party, I just told them all to come to my house.

We had plenty of flashlights, plenty of candles, and plenty of food. A good time was had by all. As it turned out, as the girls were being picked up the following morning, many of them had to go home to no power. We only lost power a few times, but it only flickered.

It can only mean one of two things - either you are the "cool" mom that lets them do more stuff than they are allowed at their own houses, or your kids have more fun stuff than they do.

I was forever at other peoples' houses, because I couldn't get away with squat at home. :lmao:

Big safe yard with lots to do. Plus, I'm a SAHM so alot of them don't have moms at home after school, and don't go to daycare.
Although, I am pretty cool.:buddies:
