Kids being "Ugly"

Really? She was looking for answers? It looked to me like she just wanted to vent. Maybe she just wanted to know that her kids weren't the only ones that were acting up for the holidays.

Then when all of you "experts" started arguing with her she naturally got upset. I keep telling her that not everyone on these boards is a beeyotch. Unfortunately a vocal few with a chip on their shoulder hide that fact pretty effectively.

For the record she did ask for help.

Just because I'll defend her doesn't mean that I always think that she's right. Nevertheless I won't stand by while strangers give her a load of crap because they want to feel good about themselves.

BTW: Not everybody is against me on this. I have received several nice PMs from people expressing support. So I guess I was right, the vocal few on these boards mostly just want to yank somebody's chain.

Same here, my kid is angelic. He knows who is in charge and he respects that. Call me old fashioned, I am his dad and not his pal :shrug:

How do you figure? This is bordering on pathetic. I don't need to give her a load of crap to "feel good about me" all I needed to do was read her posts and I felt great.

Sure did. I think I mentioned it earlier (no biggie if you missed it in all of this. . .) Gave her a writing assignment, laid down the law until she got it done and now its all over but the shouting here on line.

Hey, she got angry, vented and told you (and lots of others) off. Now she's gone. Y'all are still stuck with me, but I'm willing to drop it if you are. As far as I'm concerned it's over. No hard feelings on my part, but then I don't take this place too seriously. :shrug:

I don't think mine has seen outside of her room since last week.
My sister is also having a problem w/ her daughter we were thinking maybe the excitement of xmas...they haven't been fallin asleep at night either.

j/k It sounds alot like my house here recently. For some reason our middle child has gotten it into to her head to push Mommy's buttons, but Daddy she will listen to. Personally I think that this is a phase where she is testing her limits and Mom's not coping with the stress very well.

It occurs to me that several folks were encouraging corporal punishment and I want to set the record straight on that score. I spank my kids when they need it. I slowed down on this some when they spankings didn't seem to be having as mush impact (har!) and switched (har again!) tactics. Now we hand out more reading/writing/cleaning assignments. Judging by the tears and gnashing of teeth I'd say that it hurts her more. We're still working on translating all of this into solid character construction.

Daggone raising kids is hard work! I'm glad I get to go fiddle with Unix systems all day instead. I usually only have to be mad/bad/glad Dad in the evenings.

So far my 4 year old has been somewhat "normal." All I have to do is look at her and she knows she messed up. Now my son is 3 months so he doesn't count yet but gimmie sometime, I'm sure I'll be going through hell like the rest of you.

reading/writing/cleaning doesn't work so well with mine. one of them is almost 3 and one is 7 months.... and my older one thinks all of the above are fun.
