Kids sharing a bedroom...

Who told you that? I don't think it's true. There are all kinds of low-income people who have children bunking together, so I don't know how they could make a law like that.

Of course, they make all kinds of stupid laws that make absolutely no sense, so

:yeahthat: That seems insanse, but who knows. IF it is a law, it obviously isn't enforced.

I know someone who could not get Section 8 because the State would not allow her to put her kids in the same bedroom. They only allowed her enough money to rent a 2 bedroom but they stated that she needed a 3. You should definently call CPS or the housing authority before you make a decision.

I have been looking at this for the past hour now. If you need a three bedroom but only have a voucher for a two bedroom, the livingroom will count as long as there is a window. I spoke with social services on this and she spoke to a CPS worker while I was on hold.

I'll have to forward this to my friend in here who waited 3 years for housing assistance and got denied because she could not find a 3 bedroom unit for under $900 per month. :yay:

So they dont just give her $/vouchers? I thought that on the section /low income housing they just gave you a check for what ever you were approved for. You are on a waiting list? I guess you learn something new every day

I have no freaking clue. I've call everywhere from hell and back looking for an affordable apartment or house.

I know a few property managers, that's why I asked. Affordable housing is far and few between. I lucked out finding a two bedroom for 799 a month.

Hell no. That would be too simple for this county. There's a waiting list for 2-3 years.

I know people on housing also. A three bedroom voucher is 1400. You still have to be able to afford to pay 30% of your income to rent (it is adjusted to factor in different things). Just because you have a 1400 voucher doesnt mean you can use the whole thing if it will cause you to live beyound your means. That is probably what happened to your friend if she couldn't find something for 900.

I am not sure how it goes. She told me that she was allowed $900 for a 3 bedroom. She said that it goes by your income and that there is no set dollar amount. Which, I know is true because I rented to a women a few years ago that only got $600 and some for a 2 bedroom.

It's dependent on what the area medium income is and if the person applying is classified as low-income, very-low-income, or extremely-very-low-income how much they have to pay and what, if any, utilities are included. A wait list is normal.

In california there is no vouchers or anything they just built low income apartments and you had to meet a income criteria in order to rent them.
example: 1 bedroom :300 a month
2 bedroom: 450 a month
3 bedroom : 600 a month

They required you to submitt proof of income every 6 months if you went over you got the boot....

however the wait list was 6 years :faint: when my sister applied for it

that sounds like a load of crap. why couldnt a 5 and 6 year old b & girl share a room. I dont think its anyones business except the parents.
If it's your home, the government cannot dictate where your kids sleep. However, in this case she's renting and the management co. has to comply with zoning regulations.

Different programs. Those are based on income. We're talking about Section 8. Two totally different programs.

My son is 4 and has his own room, but my b/g twins are 3 and they cannot be seperated. They were in the same belly together for 10 months, then shared a crib for 4 months and have shared a bedroom since.

We have tried putting the boys together in bunks, but the twins will not sleep apart from one another...
