Unfortunately guns do not protect us from rampant stupidity, such as demonstrated in the above post.

Actually, guns *could* protect us from that... but you'd never be able to prove it was ALL in self-defense.

I'd say that guns take more lives then they save, and their benefit towards preventing crime is minor.

Have you ever wondered how other coutries have been able to have lower crime rates than ours WITHOUT public access to firearms?

I'm not for banning all firearms possession in public hands, but there have to be some common sense laws.

Giving the public broad permission to carry concealed weapons is absolute insanity.
Have you done any research before you opened your trap to spew more stupidity?

Gun control has been such a roaring success in Australia and Great Britain that violent crime has risen double digits since they passed it. In certain areas of Australia, violent crime has risen by 400%. Yeah, works well.

On the contrary, every state (36 at last count) in the U.S. that has passed shall issue concealed carry has seen a decrease in the violent crime rate. Criminals have to think about whether a potential victim is armed or not.

If you are not armed and able to defend yourself, you are just another prey animal.

As for the police being able to protect you, nonsense. They can't and are not even required to if protecting you will put their own life in danger. That is from SCOTUS ruling; liberal digbats. All the cops can do is put up yellow tape and call the coroner to haul off your dead body. If a cop just happens to be going by the end of your street and gets the call, and it takes 30 seconds to respond, you may already be dead. With my DE, if someone comes in to do bodily harm, the cops can call the coroner to haul off a body, but it won't be mine.

I believe in the Right to Bear Arms, as well as the right to arm bears. I think everyone should have a gun. Not because we WANT one, but because we NEED one. Who knows when jolly old England may decide to try and take her colonies back again. We have to be ready to organize a militia at a moments notice. One if by land, two if by sea! I think every child who matriculates into the public school system should be required to wear a side arm. That child would NOT have been shot in the face if he had been packing heat. Guns protect us from all of society's ills.... cancer, secondhand smoke, erectile dysfunction, agrophobia, homophobia... hell, homos in general!
The Right to Keep and Bear Arms has nothing to do with hunting nor is it dependent on a militia, although two types of militias still legally exist in the United States today and neither of them is the National Guard. The right to keep and bear arms was put in place so that the citizens of the United States could keep our own governments in order or take control from them by force if necessary. History is your friend.

If your think the right to keep and bear arms only belongs to the National Guard, you are completely wrong. The National Guard is not either of the militias and the legislation creating the National Guard was not proposed and passed until about 100 years after the writing of the Constitution. Also consider this:

A well-schooled electorate, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and read Books, shall not be infringed.
It has the exact same sentence structure as the Second Amendment. So does the right to keep and read books belong to the electorate or to the people? The people of course.
Amendment II (1791)
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
It is the right of the people of the United States, citizens, to keep and bear arms. And that right is not subject to violation in any way by the states, the federal government, or other governing bodies of the world unless it is repealed through an amendment to the Constitution.

Every place, every time it's done, the crime rate drops.

Did you know that in MD if someone breaks into your house you would go to jail if you shot them unless they're armed and you can prove they are threatning your life? The proper response is to run away and let somebody else handle it.
Or die, and let the police draw a chalk line around your body and put up yellow tape. That's their job don't you know. That and giving speeding tickets. :lmao:

Exactly, I would shoot and take my chances. Jail is nicer than a coffin.

THE POLICE ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PROTECT YOU!

The most famous case is:
Warren vs's. District of Columbia

These are some of the links I have provided below stating a few cases where people have sued governments and lost because the government is not obligated to protect you from criminals! The High courts of the land have spoken!!! Its up to you! (hence the 2nd amendment)

These are some of the links posted. Just something to think about next time you call 911 and ASK for a police officer to come assist you in your troubles....
They are actually not required by law to protect you.

"To protect and serve" lol.

A thought to consider.

A person able to defend themselves, even to death, against repression by a government is a citizen. A person unable able to defend themselves against repression by a government is a subject.

Wow - I earned some unsigned, uncommented gray krama for this.

So - I say thanks!

...or eff off!

Whichever is appropriate!
