Kind of a weird question

That's what I always did too. And I mark the spot with a stone because it's usually in the woods further back on the property.

Nope. Unmarked. Ashes to ashes. Let 'em go sez I. A general idea of where is much better than some damn monument and, besides, there will be less legal hassles with rezoning down the road if there ain't a damn cemetery in the middle of the property.

Many of you know that my Claudia is very old; each winter, I expect it to be her last but she's still hanging in there.

My question is, when she finally dies I'd like to bury her in the yard. How does a person go about doing that? Obviously you don't just dig a hole and plop them in - don't you have to put them in a box or bag or something? I've never buried a pet before, so not really sure what's the best way to do it when the time comes.

(I told you it was kind of a weird question  )

If you have her put to sleep the vet puts her in a nice little carboard box. That is what my 15 year old dog was buried in last month. If she dies at home wrapping her in a blanket first is what I would've just done.

Buried both my little dogs in their blankets. Buried them deep so no animals would dig them up.

Just to clarify, I gently lay them in the grave. Not really "plop" them in. Say one last good by and finish the task.

I burried my chameleon in my apartment complex.. I know there are dogs n such all around so I put him in cloth, then inside a ziplock baggy, then inside a styrofoam coffin, then inside a box :lmao:

We go in the ground, worms eat us.... circle of life, hakuta matata and all that.
I just got finished looking up the lyrics...:high5:

'Tis my view as well... death is a natural part of the life cycle. Accept it and cherish of the memories as you go on with life.

From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There's more to be seen than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done

Some say eat or be eaten
Some say live and let live
But all are agreed as they join the stampede
You should never take more than you give

In the circle of life
It's the wheel of fortune
It's the leap of faith
It's the band of hope
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the circle, the circle of life

Ugh, I torture myself all the time thinking about my dog. I'm having him cremated. I dont' think we're going to be in this house longterm, and I'd hate to leave him behind. Weird, huh? I'm not going to save his ashes on the mantle or anything though. I'm going to spread them some place special.

I saw an article about Marley, the dog the movie Marley and me was based on. When the owner moved into a new house, they dug up Marley's bones and took her to the new house (bought with the money from the movie's success) and reburied her. They couldn't leave her behind either.

I am so very blessed
My dear Khimear God Dammit is buried under a gorgeous weeping cherry tree. Whenever it blooms I think of her sweet kisses, and it makes me smile.

The vet provided a decorative cardboard box, along with an impression of her foot, and a tearful poem.

Bob dug the hole, and I buried her, and put some beautiful purple pansies on top.

I read that too.

I had this song in my head: The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out, the worms play pinochle on your snout.....

Jack was my girl kitty.
HA! I have a female dog named Willie.

We buried our ferrets and cat in a box with a blanket wrapped around them and their favorite toy between their paws.

Ok, Mr. BlackHeart..... I said a stone, as in 2"x2", not a freakin' monument!!
