Kitty's 1st day outside...

Your boy looks similar to mine...ahh, err minus the baby rabbit and plus 10 lbs.

He's cute. Mine was a Turkish Angora so his coat had been shaved not too long prior to that photo being taken so he looks short-haired. He loved being outside but he didn't like all the animals that came in the house after him. This was the cat that peed and pooped in my chair after I brought the feral kitten in. He growled at me for over a month after that...anytime he saw me while sitting on my husband's lap. Boy... my husband enjoyed that. :ohwell: My husband would say that whatever he was trying to tell me wasn't nice at all... so when my dad mentioned a friend of his looking for an older cat, introductions were made and since they both really liked each other, he packed his shiat up and left me. :bawl: He's happy now and he wants to marry his new owner.

I love orange cats!

Me too... my MIL has a slut of a cat over at her house that Animal Control has not been able to catch.... Instead, she just keeps having kittens which we've been able to catch and re-home. Almost all the kittens she had were orange kittens, super smart and loving. In the quest to catch the little slut, we have caught 11 cats... a beaver... a groundhog... and a butch of other wild life but she is a momma again. We think these are going to be Maine Coon mixes because that is the new guy we've seen hanging out around the farm now. :cds:

I had that problem around my yard for awhile, but, with some patience and my 243, I was able to get rid of all the cats wandering around.
People dont understand that when they let their cats run the neighborhood, feral colonies are sure to be started.
If you have a pet, you need to be responsible for that pet, and that involves not letting it roam.

It is a touchy subject and I don't say or state any opinion what-so-ever on the matter because my husband offered to put a bullet in the cats head and she had a fit. And when his grandmother said the same thing, she didn't speak to her for weeks.... so they deal with the kittens and gave up trying to trap it. You know they got it once in the trap and my stupid, brain dead BIL, didn't follow instructions... which was to keep her in the trap... he thought he would be Mr. Badass and move her from the trap to a crate. He got his ass bit up pretty good & got sick from it.

I agree with you... people use that farm as a unwanted cat dumping ground and it is ridiculous. If somebody doesn't want their pet, they really need to do the right thing and take it to the shelter.

We had the same problem here. There are several buildings here on this property. My Husband calls them "Pole Buildings". We had a little over 30 cats here. We finally caught them, spayed/neutered them, and found homes for all but four. I guess because we live on the water, people thought their unwanted cats would thrive here. I am a sucker for all animals, and I swear people knew this. But all is well now, and we haven't found any new litters of kittens in about 4 years.

My former indoor/outdoor cat is now running outside. I tried to train him to be indoors...no go. This is a large development. He goes outside and is back at the porch within 5 minutes. I was worried but it appears there is no need. Less in the litter box is fine with me. :yahoo:

My 100% outdoor cat (he adopted me... not the other way around) keeps insisting he wants to be an indoor/outdoor cat. When I let the schnauzers in he parades in behind them like he's one of the dogs...

We got adopted by a cat shortly after moving here in 1997. She decided one day that she was moving in. She had been fixed and didn't have fleas so we figured she was abandoned and hadn't been outside for very long. She would scratch at the front door when she wanted in or out.

She passed away in 2000, shortly before our first son was born. She was diagnosed with Cushing's which the vet said normally kills them as kittens. She was definitely an adult cat so no idea how she lived with that. I came home one day and the skin on the back of her neck was split open but the wound wasn't bleeding. Took her to the vet and they said that the upper layer of skin wasn't connected to the lower levels and her skin would just keep ripping open if she wasn't put to sleep. The vet actually wanted to send her to some vet medical school for research but we said no and took her home to bury her.
