Does anyone know of knitting classes in the area? I can crochet somewhat but would really like to learn knitting.
Crazy for Ewe on the square in Leonardtown always has classes going on for all different levels of knitters. Ellen is the owner and helps new knitters all the time.

I bought the Learn to crochet book/kit from Joanns and taught myself. Just another idea if you can't find anyone to sit down and teach you.

Knitting group and Knitting machines

I would be interested in a knitting group (joining and/or helping). Also I would like to hear from anyone who has used a knitting machine. I just bought one and would love to have advice from someone in the know. :coffee:

Knitting has been my sanity life-line. Also my relaxation. Currently I'm working on a pair of complex cabled knee-socks where I can ease my grief over putting our dog down yesterday. All my Christmas gifts are either knitted or crocheted - I start around July.

I have knitted since age 9 and am looking to teach others - either one-on-one or groups. :howdy:

Please feel free to pm me if you want lessons. I use and teach the Continental [also called left-handed] style.

Here's one early 4-H story: I'd started making my father an Irish Fisherman sweater. Come County Fair time, it wasn't finished. So I threw on a collar and armhole ribbing - entered it as a vest. Got a blue ribbon! The next year, I'd finished it - so entered it as a sweater. Got another blue ribbon! [I was 13-14 at the time]

PS - I'm working on a website that will eventually sell DVD's teaching a number of handcrafts I love doing - knitting, crocheting, tatting, for starters. Check it out: Aunt Dot's Crafts - Home

Where are you located?
Ch'naca Fibers in Prince Frederick is great, Nancy taught me to knit and she has some really great fiber. There was a knitting group that met in the Lexington Park library once a month. I don't know if they still do but the library would know. I think Michaels has classes. The Chesapeake Spinners and Weavers meet every month, except this month, at Mt Zion Church the third Sunday. Most of of are fiber-addicted and not only spin and weave, but felt, knit and crochet too. And we are happy to help people get started. Calvert has a spinning and weaving group, several wonderful knitters in there also. I was thinking it would be nice to have an informal group that met in Leonardtown, not at the Crazy for Ewe, sorry. At one of the coffee houses maybe.
