La Plata Highschool Stabbing!!!

There are a number of things not right about this situation, but I feel the need to point out that Baynet isn't contributing credibility when they get the smallest sewing needles they could find in order to compare them to the type of needle used in the attack.

I'm referring to the picture at the top of the article.

That's shotty journalism and is belittling to the serious issues in this article.

AKA - Special K
LPHS - stabbing

This is crazy. The needle could have punctured a lung or an other vital organ. The two students were lucky. The students should have gone to the Principal after the incident. The student that puncured the student should be expelled - one for assault and second for using the needle as a weapon. If I were the mom, my butt would be standing in the school first thing in the morning demanding to see the Principal. If that doesnt work I would then drive over to CCPS and see the superintendent and wait until I see someone who is in charge of the schools. Demand some answers then sue the hell out of the board for such lacidasial respones. Use your backbone mom and protect your child.:duel:

I would have to wonder if she "stabbed/ poked" someone with a known infection prior to stabbing the two victims in the school.. either complicitly or not.

Scary thought but not one I would put past a high school, or a middle school student today.

Couple of questions here. Not answered by the article. Are we afraid of a jena incident here?/ Why the lenient punishment.? 1 hour after school??/ Did they even call the attackers mother? What would have happened had this been a girl with a D average?? Or a boy with any average. If she had stabbed this girl in the ear she would be deaf or dead.
Is this a case of temporary insanity? Why else would some one just stab another with a needle like that ,out of the blue.?

nothing was done by the school board? this is crazy, if your kids went to LaPlata high,, wouldnt you want to be informed. how about a morning announcement about it to make sure that if any other kids were stabbed they could get tests and take precautions. charles county? not anymore.

Stand outside a metro station and stab folks with a needle as they get on. See how long before someone whips your a$$ or you get arrested for assualt.

no legal action is going to be taken,, its about the children here. multiple people were stabbed,,, or poked, whatever the term you want to use, but it infact broke the skin and blood was present. now, you take that needle and poke several other kids,,, transfering fluids. now we love charles county, but damn we know we all are not the cleanist people! not only do the kids need to take the neccessary precautions, but this type of stuff should not happen.

No, you really need to take legal action on this. This was an assult. It should not be taken lightly. Coming in here and gathering the troops then not taking all the steps you can to prevent this from happening again is not going to solve the problem.

These actions can have very grave results that you may not be aware of until many years later. You need to take legal action to protect the victims in this.

i am going to pass on the information to the family. the response has been awesome and i thank all of you. i dont think the kid did it maliciously or intended it to be in the begining,, but what the hell. like stated above, who else was stabbed. i know two other kids came foward but how many are not, how many couldve contracted some infection. Why didnt the school have a morning announcement? What is wrong with people?

of course she did it with malice, which also explains the threating behavior towards the victim the following day. If you dont take legal action on this you have no idea what could be done next.

This is will help give closure to all involved.

What can the school board do?

Because of the beuracratic system that's been put in place, there's not much they can do. I think these cats ought to take legal action.

Just so you know...

I assure you I did not "get the smallest sewing needles" I could find.

If you go to Jo-Ann's in Waldorf and look at the display you will see that Jo-Ann's actually put the quilting needles next to the tapestry needles. That photo is of the display on their wall.

Originally I had considered using a ruler or other item next to large needles to demonstrate how large some needles can be, but I felt a ruler would imply we knew the exact size of the needles and I did not wish to be misleading that way. Instead I opted with just taking a photo of a couple of packs of different sized needles. I was merely trying to demonstrate with my photo the size difference represented in various needles. Those weren't even the biggest needles there!

Also, I feel rather than belittling the serious nature of the incident it helps illustrate and validate it. I also feel it would be sort of...well, really lame for me to "belittle" the story with an over sensationalistic photo when I am also the one who wrote the story.

Also, FYI, I'm a shoddy journalist, not a shotty one. (smirk)

And you felt compelled to come over here and post....why?

Because I wanted to clear up the FALSEHOOD that I took a photo of the large needles next to "the smallest ones" I could fine.

TOTALLY FALSE.

You mean "find"? Why do you really care about one post?? You write for the baynet right? The story was fine, the pictures was fine. You are not going to please everyone.

I fixed the "find" in like two seconds, you must have read it and replied super fast.

I care because it isn't true.

As for pleasing everyone - I am *WELL* aware that I cannot please everybody and I am not attempting to "please" that poster.

I was able to post a comment - this forum allows me to do so, I addressed the person's accusation and that was why I came and what I did.

Simple as that.

Actually the post was there for a while before I had the chance to read it and respond. You can see the time lapse between posts....I am sure you are well aware that you cannot please everyone but yet you are here over one post.

Never mind I did see the other comments posted.

Was there backlash from the article?
Of course this forum will allow you to post. That is one of the many things that make SOMD.COM the best websites for our area.
