If he gets a new one, I'll take the old one and give a tax write off receipt. I'm looking for laptops that can be loaned out to trainers working for me for Scouts. What's wrong with it? You might be better off getting a new one.

Check to make sure your memory boards are seated correctly (not the hard drive). I was checking some Dells at SMARTCO and they would act like that if they didn't have any RAM installed. Once we installed RAM, they would boot fine (no hard drives installed). The darn thing won't turn on. It tries to power up but just stops and dies. It probably doesn't help that I punched the stupid thing.

To check for that, remove the battery and plug in the power supply. We had one like that at SMARTCO a couple weeks ago. With the battery removed it started up. With battery in, it wouldn't.Sometimes the power adapters go bad and do not charge battery or powerup the laptop. Happened to my dell XPS last year. Thing wouldnt boot and turned out to be just the power adapter.
