Large red bump on my cat's head

bresamil

Started out last week really small and hard and now has progressed to visible through the fur. She doesn't seem bothered by it - no scratching or anything.

Have you had this happen to your pet? I'm trying to decide if I need a vet visit.

If you are on here asking.. you need a vet check. It could be infected or worse, even. IF you squeezed it and nothing comes out, I would get it checked. Good luck.

Spider egg sack.

She'll be fine once it hatches and the thousands of small spiders come out

Not in the least afraid of spiders and I know not to squeeze something like this. Just like acne, squeezing is a nono.

Vet check....if it is solid and growing fast....check it out. You pet is well worth the price of a vet visit!
Good luck!:howdy:

Claudia used to get those all the time. Lance it and press the goober out, then cover it with Neosporin.

Or take the cat to the vet and have them do it for $30.

PS, have a couple of paper towels handy to sop up the goop because there will be more than what you'd think.

Not my kitteh! She's a lady! (Maybe he clocked her because she looked at his food dish. Louie likes his food.)

So its like a boil? It has no give to it whatsoever.

Claudia's didn't either, it was hard because it was so full. The vet lanced it the first time and it was disgusting, then it would come back and I'd lance it. Starts off as a little bump, then gets visibly larger over the next couple of days.

But if you don't think that's what it is, take her to the vet to make sure. It could be anything, but that's what Claudia's boil looked like in the beginning.

Vet Check just to make sure. I'm not well-versed on Animals, but with Humans, it looks like Foliculitis, which is inflamation of a hair folicule. Like Vrai said, the Vet might lance it, and everything will be OK. The good thing is, that the borders of it are not asymetrical, it appears round. If it had irregular borders, it might be a different story. Let us know what the Doc says.
