Well I heard back from the school this morning. Friday is an official day of school and kids are supposed to attend. Apparently the principal sent out an email to all staff this morning (it was read to me over the phone) that kids were supposed to attend on Friday. So mine will be going to school.

:nomoney: used to be a good kid until I let her stay home on the official last day of school! :lmao: Then she started pushing grocery carts around, wearing different colored shoes and whistling "I am a little teapot"! :killingme

I'm thinking it's in your best interest to ensure your child attend the last day, Alex... :yeahthat:

Mine's in 9th grade at Leonardtown. She also told me that even though Friday is the last day, no one goes...and the one's who are made to go by their parent's are sent into slave labor packing up books, cleaning desks and boards, etc... absolutely NO teaching going on. So, I'm letting mine stay home because I already have my own slave labor list of things for her to do!

He is a sophmore and I don't really care if they "do" anything or not. Some of his teachers had finals last week and haven't been "teaching" since then. Even if tomorrow was the last day of school they still would be doing nothing. So since by law he is required to be there he will be there. We told him to take a book to read since he has summer english reading assignments he can get a jump start on them.

That poor kid. I hope he finds a driving friend to pick him up in the morning so he can just skip. The whole time I was in school, I left right after whatever exam it was that I had that day. If it was 1st period, I rolled out by 9:30, at the latest. No one takes attendence during finals week.

I hope no one shoves him in a locker! With the school being pretty much empty no one will hear him! Oh well at least Mom will know where he is!

They can't say that it is only for make-up exams because technically, it IS a school day. The teachers and administration can't tell you not to come to school. But no one goes, even the kids that have make-up exams only go for the exam. My bus driver used to ask if anyone was going that day and if no one was, she didn't even bother making the run.

Was I your bus driver. There was always 1 kid on the bus that last day. And he usally lived the farthest. It really is only a make up day for high school; let him stay home.

I teach in a middle school but I have kids in elem., middle and high. Friday is officially the last day for students and Monday for teachers. Attendance is not really taken the last 3 days (15/16/17)because they are half days only and not recorded for perfect attendance, ect...only to make sure all who COME to school are accounted for. All my own kids are staying home tomorrow and I gave them the option for today. Most teachers have already entered grades for the last quarter and movies are being watched in just about every class...or classes are being taken to the gym for games. At the highschool...the kids are being told by the teachers to stay home if they want because they'll only have to help clean classrooms. Staying home on the last day of school is not against the "law".

I guess I'll be the mean mom then cause he will be going to school. Luckily for the bus driver we are one of the last stops in the morning so they won't have far to go to drop him off.

We went to grandson's elementary graduation program this morning at school, teacher made sure they had cleaned out their trays and was giving them all hugs and telling them good luck next year (10:30 am) as parents were to take their children home. She does not expect any children to be at school tomorrow.
My heart was torned in half when I saw only one little boy sitting at a table by himself as his parents were not there to pick him up. I just wondered all day how that poor little tyke felt! :huggy: I told him that he sang very good during the program and half of a smile appeared, so then told him to have a very good summer and he brightened up a little and said thank you very much! God, I just wanted to pick him up and give him a hug so bad!
