Just about every PM I worked with liked apples v. oranges. Being a Dell given scum-sucking consultant, I've stuck with pc's - and Dell's - tho I had to work with both. I probably won't change, but I'm not "anti" Mac either.Nupe2 said:....now what? Stay tuned while I take this baby through its paces!
You could swing by after the show, you have my cell #. I'll give you and Mrs. Nupe the grand tour.Nupe2 said:I should have known....great minds....
Here's a snapshot of "what's in my bag" (had to insert some golf talk):
iMac 2.16Ghz Intel Core duo processor
1Gb of SDRAM (expandable to 3gb)
250 gb Hard Drive
usual dvd+r/cd/cd/rw
20 inch widescreen lcd display
ATI x1600 graphics processor
built in bluetooth, etc. etc.
You know, all the stuff that you need to attain total concsiousness (and smugness).
Hey, I'll be down your way for the Jazz Fest on Saturday. We'll try to keep the noise down....
I've never gotten a virus on either of my 3 Windows XP computers I'm currently running.virgovictoria said:Just about every PM I worked with liked apples v. oranges. Don't know what all you Mac lovers are so scared of.
Show me what cool new games I can play on my new Mac!Speedy70 said:It's not being 'scared', it's just being wiser.

I'm running Ubuntu Linux and it works great for what I need - basic email, websurfing, running my business (I'm an AVON lady). My husband uses WinXP cause he's a gamer (Battlefield Vietnam, Star Wars Galaxies)
Got a call from my dad today (I'm the defacto tech support for my parents) Seems that their WinXP comp is so borked that it's not even loading into SAFE mode. He's looking into a Mac (he was having a MAJOR 'I HATE MICROSOFT' b**chfest today) but I do have a question for the Mac fans on the board: If he were to get a Mac would he still be able to use his beloved AutoCAD?
Mac Attack! An enterprise PC shop switches to Apple
Julia King
July 16, 2007 (Computerworld) It's little things like the small silver Apple logo on CIO Dale Frantz’s crisp white shirt that signal the sea change in the works at Auto Warehousing Cver the next 60 days, AWC will begin systematically pulling the plug on all Windows-based PCs in its cavernous auto processing shop and power up Macs to execute virtually all of its revenue-generating operations. The move comes on the heels of a quiet wholesale replacement of Windows-based servers for data storage and Web operations, which are now running on Apple Inc.’s Xserve RAID machines.
“This is not a vengeance case,” Frantz says, referring to his 2006 tangle with Microsoft over threatening letters from the vendor that made false accusations about unlicensed software.
Instead, AWC’s new strategic enterprise technology plan is the direct result of proof-of-concept testing that indicates that the company can cut costs, increase system reliability and security, and provide expanded IT support services by porting a major portion of its IT infrastructure to Apple. Extricating itself from its exclusive dependence on Microsoft is simply the cherry on top.
