I drove by it Tuesday & Friday, saw the "open" signs but no cars were in the lot. I ate there a few years ago and it was too greasy for me...

I don't know which station you're referring to. Is this a Metro station?

It's a restaurant/grill on Southbound 235 by John Baggett Park. They used to have the best cheesesteaks!! Anyway, we took the Grandpup down that way today for a walk on the new trail and stopped by. Just had hot dogs, but they were good (and BIG). You can tell they're just getting up and running, but everyone was very nice. We'll probably stop in again and try the cheesesteak.

Laurel Grove Station was part of the Southern Maryland Railroad. The station was built in 1954. After the railroad closed it was remodeled into a Restaurant. We currently are under new management and have a brand new menu! You can see our menu on our facebook page. (Laurel Grove Station | Facebook)

We LOVE it!! We go there about once a week. They are trying to get up a delivery service. The breakfast is good and the lunch/dinner menu is awesome. They have daily specials from time to time and if the owner/chef Michael is cooking..............get the special, don't matter what it is, he's the bomb when it comes to cooking. The sautéed veggies are out of this world. (if the other cooks are reading this, you're awfully good as well, Michael is better, sorry) Just saying. The waitresses are very polite and very friendly. I hope this makes it because it's 5 minutes from my house and the food id really good.

Can you tell I like this place ?:yahoo:

Did it open and then reopen again under new management? We went about 4 months ago maybe, The food was to die for (I got the steak and cheese sub and it was on a ciabatta roll). I had attempted to go several times after that but even though it was during open hours there apeared to be no one there and the door was locked. I do notice driving by it looks different now. There appears to be new signs and looks like quite a few cars there no matter what time I go by. I will deffinitely have to try again. Even though I really liked the Steak and Cheese sub I still miss the old ones they had there years ago.

I live fairly close and they sent out flyers about a month ago. We haven't tried it yet. After waiting nearly 2 hours for take-out to be delivered from New China... I hope they do get their delivery service in order. BTW, if anyone is looking for a driver job, call New China... from the sounds of it, they need to hire some fricken help.

So does New China now deliver down in the Laurel Grove area? I live on Queentree Road.

Yes, we are under new management. The Grand re-opening was Sept 8th however, we were open a few weeks before that while the new manager, Michael, started the remodeling and created the new menu. Our Steak and Cheese subs are served on Ciabatta Bread. So you may have stopped by when we were just getting situated and that's why our doors were locked.

Do we get a discount or free drink if we say we heard about you on SOMD.COM forums...

Crab dip is absolutely awesome. If you've been thinking of stopping in for a bite, DO IT !!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, the food is really good. like I said, it's nice to have a good place to eat so close to home (5 min). Ask about their specials and order whatever it is, you won't go wrong. Steak and cheese on ciabata is very good. Crab cakes are real nice as well.

I have heard that they have redone the inside but not sure if that has been since we were there. I know it is a thinner building and it is handicapped accesible. I am curious if the building would accomodate a wider wheel chair and have a place we could sit and eat on the inside? If not it is not a big deal, I will just wait until warmer weather and plan a park day with the kids and pick up food and take to the play ground for my Aunt. She grew up right across the street and the place has always been a part of her life so she is wanting to go. I know it wont be the same as going in and seeing the inside but we could still make for a nice experience any way.

Absolutely handicap accessible. The tables inside are laid out so that a wheelchair can sit under them comfortably. My wife's business deals with people in wheelchairs and she said there is no problem. We ate there Friday night and met Chef Michael's wife, Sylvia. She is one of the nicest women you'll ever meet. Michael came out to chat with us and he remembered that we went to Brazil and asked about our trip. They are trying so hard to make a go of it and we feel that they will suceed. The atmosphere is very quaint and lovable. The service is outstanding and the food is even better. Without a doubt, some of the best in So MD. One word of advice, should you happen to get a bad meal, please tell them and they'll make it right (never had it happen yet). The crab dip is some of the best we've ever had. Give them a try and report back!:yahoo:

I grabbed two cheese steaks Saturday night. Only 2 tables occupied when I arrived. Ordered at 5:35. One with steak fries, one without. No drinks.

I was very conscience of time because I had to be somewhere at 6:30 and wanted to eat first. Food finally came out at 6:05.

I'm sorry but 30 minutes for two sandwiches is WAY too long to wait. To add insult to injury, the total was $18.00!!!! :faint:
I can go to Subway, Quiznos or any other sub shop and get a meal with a drink and chips for under $8.00 and be out in 10 minutes.

The order with fries was $9.00 and the order without was $8.00. $8.00 just for a freaking sandwich!?!?! :tantrum
Had I known that I would have got fries with both. AND the fries were only warm!! I figured after that wait, they would have just come from the fryer.

No wonder the place was empty during dinner rush on a Saturday night.

I will say the staff was very friendly and one lady even commented that it looked awkward me sitting there that long. The sandwich was good but the warm fries sucked.

Spoke with friends who have eaten there and they had the same complaint. Too slow & too expensive.

As much as I wish good on local businesses, I predict they will be gone within 6 months unless they speed up the service and adjust their prices.
