Anyone here know much about LCD televsions....
I am curious to know if I can get one and still use my roof antenna or if I must have cable or sat.
Additionally what the heck is DVI and what kind of rough-in in the walls would it require??
TIA

DVI is digital visual interface. There are a few different types as well, such as digital and analog, or both, + whether it's a single or dual link. Check here.

For the most part, you cannot recieve hd ota (over-tha-air) down here in southern maryland. That's what's good with analog. Even if you are on the signal fringe, you can still get a picture. With digital, you either have it or ya don't. I would go with cable or directtv. They have an expanded hd package that gives you plenty of show-off channels for your friends.

What we're alluding to here is High Definition TV. There are not that many channels available to us here in this area.

DirecTV does broadcast a few channels, but you have to purchase a new receiver and dish(antenna).

Very costly. Somewhere around $600 tp $900. dollars. I'm gonna wait until it comes down more.
Depending on ur location you can get HDTV with cable TV (cable company) from 15-20 channels of HDTV. Its about $11 a month in SMC. I got a new 26" LCD for X-mas and it's a Nuvision. Very nice picture I might say. We will be getting a Plasma 50" or if I can talk Chasey into it I'm going to buying a 63".

63"? That's it? C'mon, if you're going big, go BIG:
The Japanese maker of the Panasonic brand said it had developed the world's largest plasma-panel television set with a 103-inch (2.6 meter) screen.

Since you're into paying high prices for inferior products, wanna be my sugarmomma? :flowers:

Hey thanks for all the info folks and i have still not figured out if I even need dvi i think that is just an iterface between computer and tv screen .... am i correct slotted?
HDTV atennas sell for around 60 dollars....does anyone know if an old uhf antenna will do the same?
I am asking because I have one in perfect condition....i mean you still connect hdtv with the same ol' rg-6 .....i do believe..
so does that mean that wusa 9 news is automatically sent digitally and if your tv is hdtv then it can use the digital signal as opposed to the older sets still using analog?
I am just trying to sort this all out cause I am also closing up some roughed in walls in the house and did not want to forget something stupid.....but i am sure it's inevitable that i will
