The problem with liberal/conservative...
..."tests" is that ideology has changed in fundamental ways.
Trusting Government, #1 and Gun control #10, for example. In the 60's and 70's the last thing liberals wanted was for the cops to have all the guns. They understood the inherent liberty of having the ability to protect ones self. "Don't trust anyone over 30, ESPECIALLY the authorities. Support of the Panthers, Weathermen, all kinds of violent, armed groups were the extreme example of this. They liked that these people were fighting the power. Today, they are pro-gun control and push to eliminate private ownership of weapons, the antithesis of liberty. "Conservatives" of the day were of the Nixon "Law and order" stripe.
#8, melting pot. Classic liberalism is about pro-individual, anti government control based freedom, the Great Melting pot. Modern liberalism is about group rights and group identity and enforcing these rights through governmental power, the poorly named "multicultural".
Plus, there are questions like the porn one, #20. Classic liberal womens groups have railed against porn and still do but modern liberals, even the womens groups, supported the most pornographic President in History. Sorry; Herstory.
The talk radio question, #22 is simple to a classic liberal; no way. Todays "free speech" libs typically support fairness doctrine type government restrictions.
#12, spending and the defecit. Hell, you never heard a liberal express a single concern about defecits...until now.
Maybe we could come up with a better test?
