Very harsh light... Not really for me.
I agree about the harsh light. They don't really work with dimmers either, but for general lighting use they're good.

I've replaced several blown compacts in the last month.. So much for longer life
I think I"ll just stick to low watt bulbs, unplug what I'm not using and beat the kids for leaving all the lights on in the house

it was about 10 years ago that my dad went to use his garden hose and it had split. One thing I don't like about these bulbs is the sham warranty. Read the fine print, you typically have to have the original packaging, the sales receipt, and ship it back to the manufacturer during this 5-7 year warranty period...
Who's still got all this four years later for a $5 light bulb?
Here is an interesting link to how I feel about them
American Thinker: Ban the Bulb?
BTW, They don't work with dimmers.
But what do I care I am an electrician. I will get all the service calls when it is time to retrofit.
When I replaced all of mine, my electric bill went down dramatically as well. The light is fine IMO. I think ppl complaining about the light bought low wattage bulbs. I highly recommend them.I got my electric bill last week and saw a huge difference. I had only replaced 1/2 the bulbs around the middle of the billing cycle.
I am very interested in the LED bulbs too.
Another thing I have noticed is I thought I had 2 burn out, but they mysteriously came back on and have been working fine since.
Had I quickly replaced them, I would have just thought I had 2 burn out.
