I especially liked your "adopted" cactus. I've got a huge one just outside my windows, at least 10 years old, and it's currently putting out the most beautiful yellow flowers. It will spread and the new leaves will self root which can be transplanted. Warning, do not touch as it has invisible spines that you will only notice after your stuck.

Hubby has a place picked out to plant it already. It is actually a pretty neat idea. For $5 you "adopt" a Point Lookout cactus to save it from the mowers. Evidently, they grow all over and get cut up when they mow. The funny part was when we took the water taxi over to Blackistone, they were growing wild all over!!
