Local groups to meet people?

It's been difficult to meet people outside of work since moving to the area. I love my work friends but since most of them are married/have families they do have as much free time or aren't as available on the weekends, or for unplanned happy hours, etc.

I often look at the calendar on the main page to look for events to meet people with similar interests, or just to hang, do things/activities on the weekend, etc. so I was wondering if there were any groups specifically targeted to single people? I'm in my 20's and looking for friendship more than romantic relationships. :buddies:

You should hit up the bar at the Olive Garden. Its a great spot to meet people.

Parks and Recs has adult leagues for some sports.

What kind of things are you interested in? There are groups all over the place but a clue in the right direction would help. The library has book discussions. Lots of hiking/geocaching going on. Plenty of motorcycle clubs. Good people in all kinds of organizations.

Also, look around. A lot of the bar and grill type places have team trivia. I don't know about other places but at the Rustic River it seems whoever is sitting at the bar can jump in that team.

Are you a vet? We have American Legion posts and the VFW. Both have activities that are fun. (Of course, you don't have to be a member to participate in most like poker or bingo.)

Lots to do but point us in the direction you want to go and some of us will try to help.

Google Meetup. There are a couple different groups on there from Southern MD.
