Cool. I wonder if someone like Joe Norris would be interested in playing there.

The manager's name is Joe Orlando? At first I thought he was this guy: http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/11/14635

I am a big fan of Mad magazine. I actually met the neice of that Joe Orlando once! Orlando is a pretty common name in Italy. the Prime Minister during WWII was an Orlando. A current mayor in Sicily is an Orlando. Just one thing, Tony Orlando is not related! His name is a stage name! He is part Greek and part Mexican. Not Italian!

Regarding Joe Norris, I will try and have more events in the future! Thanks for the suggestion!

I don't miss Duke's at all. Like any town really needs gunfights on its streets.

But it's one of the many charms of the Brass Rail and look at the business they do:shrug:

I was thinking that too. My dad tended bar there for years before he and my mom got married. He used to take us kids in there if it was empty to go visit Pop Duke.

Back in the early- and mid-'80s, I heard of at least two shootings. I can't remember the details.

That was before Town Inn burned down. I've heard that it used to get pretty rough in there too.

There is a room in Callaway, the crystal room I think, that is owned by the same people, maybe that's what they are thinking about? But I know the rail does have a room in back that I would think only holds like 100-150, and I'm not soo sure it's the decor you would want for your wedding.:ohwell:

I've known a lot of people to have receptions in the backroom at Brass Rail. I've never been to one though. The only time I was ever back there was when some of the male strippers from the Hangar Club came down for a "fundraiser."

Hey joedancer, did you see any bullet holes when you were decorating the place?

Didn't see any bullet holes. I did find some pieces of playing cards. Pop actually has helped a lot in setting up my shop.

I think it's a positive thing that we now have restaurants and a bookstore in Leonardtown. Obviously, most people who drink aren't troublemakers. But bars do attract troublemakers. That seems to be a fact of life. How the bars' owners handle the troublemakers seems to make the difference.

I always heard the story about someone dying up by where the dart boards and fooz ball table were, right by the bathrooms...don't know if it's true or not.

Yep, it's true. I don't remember the details, but it did happen. It creeped me out when we went to shoot darts there.

Actually, one of the Duke boys, took his own life up in the attic, not in the bar.
