LOL: Reddit readers wonder why Republicans are all crazy

This is the topic of discussion trending in politics on Reddit.com today and thought it would make for a good Friday afternoon laugh (edited for profanity):

Why is it that I constantly hear about crazy s**t Republicans are doing but I never hear about Democrats doing anything at all?

It’s a curious question that struck me as funny. But what’s more funny are the hilarious responses the questioner gets from his fellow liberal Reddit readers. Here’s a sample:

I said it in another post. Us Dems are always trying to reason, and “listen” to the other side no matter how batsh** insane it is. Republicans on the other hand come to fight, and if they have to use a broken bottle or boot pistol to win they won’t lose sleep over it.
[D]emocrats do all sorts of normal things, like pass healthcare form, it’s just that the press knows that crazy sh** sells and reddit loves to point out lies and hypocrisy.

Shorter version: Democrats are the sane, rational thinkers; Republicans are knuckle-dragging neanderthals who should be thankful to have Democrats to keep them in line. Have you ever noticed that Democrats always have very high opinions of themselves?

and people wonder why the right thinks the PRESS is biased, and know exactly why Obama was elected

Obama was elected because he was a better choice than McCain... lol why does everyone seem to not understand that? He will also be elected again because he is a better choice than Romney. Simple.

It's because the two parties are facades for a single corporate interest party. The Democrats are the party for people who are nice or have common sense and the Republicans are the party for people who are #######s or have a death wish or are authoritarians. In other words it is good cop and bad cop.

And as with all good cop / bad cop situations it's an act. They are both out to #### you just the same.

Problem: to get people interested in and distracted by the pantomime of US elections every two or four years the "two" parties have to seem equally matched although it seems obvious that the Democrats ought to be more popular (which they are if you ask everyone - but the corporate media doesn't ask everyone but only "likely voters"). So how do you rig the elections towards Republicans enough to give them a 50-50 chance for PR purposes?

The main way is to portray Democrats as useless pussies who never have the balls to get anything done. meanwhile as you say Republicans are always doing crazy #### to strong arm the elections. It's good cop / bad cop again. The bad cop breaks a chair. The good cop is your pal. This role play makes authoritarians vote Republican and means that about half the people who'd otherwise vote Democrat give up in disgust at how pathetic they are.

If that isn't enough the second way to get Republicans to 50-50 is to just give them more money, including the money for their own dedicated TV station in Fox of course.

The dirty tricks the Republicans get up to don't have much impact really (not compared to unreported tricks like the way millions of black men are disenfranchised because of being convicts) but they do help create the right images for the parties branding. ie Republicans = bad ass evil dudes, Democrats = well meaning pussies.

Take your choice.

The answer to the original question is so patently obvious, it's amazing the contortions the responders have to go through to illuminate it.

Back in the Soviet Union - readers might have asked - how come we always hear how awful the West is, how bad their products are, how their planes always crash and how they always lose at sports - but we never hear anything bad about us?

I mean, it's Pravda - what are the chances it ain't the whole unvarnished truth? That's what "pravda" MEANS, for Pete's sake!

Seriously - when you hear unbelievably lopsided reporting - can you honestly tell yourself that it's because one half of the country is just totally ####ed up, and the other half, completely blameless? And that the source of your information is just reporting the facts?

One time I was walking at lunchtime with one of my co-workers - and she asked me "Democrats - Republicans - remind me, which ones are the good guys? It's the Democrats, right? The Republicans, they're the bad guys, right?". You'd think the world of politics was a kid's cartoon.

I wonder if it was because he was a white black?

:nono: he was elected because the media portrayed him as being better than Bush.
Everything that they didn't like about Bush he's doubled down on

Are you saying you think reddit is the press? Its all user submitted posts. Most posters lean left, but there is a whole right section in the politics forum too. Oh and plenty of cat pictures. Certainly wouldn't call it the press.

You are in for a rude awakening come November. I have talked to many Democrats who believe a Romney win is inevitable. I have also heard many liberal analysts who believe that Romney will win. I may be a conservative but I was willing to give Obama a chance. I thought that a fresh faced president who was not tainted by years of political pressure to give in here and there would be good for the country. Sadly I was let down and found that he was worse because not only was he a true politician, but he was a politician who didn't know how to stand up to pressure from lobbyists and special interest groups. you will find that a good portion of those that supported him in 2008 have been dissapointed and want him out. The bottom line is that he had his chance and he blew it. Time for a change.......again
