Not to hijack the thread or anything but...

How about the restaurant, who shall remain namless, whose servers don't return the coins when bringing your change back when you pay cash? Is that some policy they have where they decided to round everything up to the whole dollar?

Am I the only one who is bothered by that? Why in the world is that ok?

It's happened to me a number of times. I was out with 2 or 3 other couples and it happened to all of us. And yes, I included that as part of my tip but I still don't know why the servers feel that it's ok to keep the coins. I haven't been back there since the last occurance

The restaurant name rhymes with 'Boobie WhoseDay'.

This happens often, so I don't know if it's restaurant specific. I don't pay cash most of the time because I want to be in control of what I'm spending and not get stuck rounding it to the nearest dollar or have to ask for specific change to give them the right tip.

I worked in a restaurant for four years and I think there were some servers there and did that. Most of them didn't carry change on them when they were working, I by no means think that is right. I was one of the few that at least carried a dollars worth of change in my pocket, and if I didn't have it I rounded up and not down.

Lone star is officially closed.

Funny, I talked to a server who works (or worked) there just about a week or so back and she said they were closed but for renovations - they had since reopened.

She had just gotten off of work, don't know why she would have told me she worked at Lone Star and then about the renovations.
