Thanks, C!

Always after my lucky charms, K? I know they're magically delicious..

Here's another Irish band - Snow Patrol..

I'll sing it one last time for you
Then we really have to go
You've been the only thing that's right
In all I've done

And I can barely look at you
But every single time I do
I know we'll make it anywhere
Away from here

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

Louder louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say

To think I might not see those eyes
Makes it so hard not to cry
And as we say our long goodbye
I nearly do

Light up...

Slower slower
We don't have time for that
All I want is to find an easier way
To get out of our little heads

Have heart my dear
We're bound to be afraid
Even if it's just for a few days
Making up for all this mess

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

That one is much better...

I'm gonna go find some Flogging Molly tunes...:brb:

oh yeah... for that lucky charms comment...:bonk::bonk::bonk:

cattitude

My Sweetest Boy
Woke up this morning
Put on my slippers
Walked in the kitchen and died
And oh what a feeling!
When my soul
Went thru the ceiling
And on up into heaven I did ride
When I got there they did say
John, it happened this way
You slipped upon the floor
And hit your head
And all the angels say
Just before you passed away
These were the very last words
That you said:

Chorus:
Please don’t bury me
Down in that cold cold ground
No, I’d druther have em cut me up
And pass me all around
Throw my brain in a hurricane
And the blind can have my eyes
And the deaf can take both of my ears
If they don’t mind the size
Give my stomach to milwaukee
If they run out of beer
Put my socks in a cedar box
Just get em out of here
Venus de milo can have my arms
Look out! I’ve got your nose
Sell my heart to the junkman
And give my love to rose

Repeat chorus

Give my feet to the footloose
Careless, fancy free
Give my knees to the needy
Don’t pull that stuff on me
Hand me down my walking cane
It’s a sin to tell a lie
Send my mouth way down south
And kiss my ass goodbye

cattitude

My Sweetest Boy
In a dreary Yankee prison
Where a rebel soldier lay
By his side there stood a preacher
Ere his soul should pass away
And he faintly whispered: Parson
As he clutched him by the hand
Oh, parson, tell me quickly
Will my soul pass through the Southland?

Will my soul pass through the Southland
Through the old Virginia grants
Will I see the hills of Georgia
And the green fields of Alabam?
Will I see there little church house
Where I pledged my heart and hand
Oh, parson, tell me quickly
Will my soul pass through the Southland?

Was for loving dear old Dixie
In this dreary cell I lie
Was for loving dear old Dixie
In this northern state I die
Will you see my little daughter
Will you make her understand
Oh, parson, tell me quickly
Will my soul pass through the Southland?

Then the rebel soldier died

cattitude

My Sweetest Boy
Casey joins the hollow sound of silent people walking down
The stairway to the subway and the shadows down below
Following the footsteps through the neon darkened corridors
Silent desperation never speaking to a soul
Poisoned air he's breathing as a dirty smell of dying
Cause it's never seen the sunshine and it's never felt the rain
Casey minds the arrows and ignores the fatal echo
Of the clicking of the turnstile and the rattle of his keys

Oh, she said, Casey it's been so long since I've seen you
Here, she said, just a kiss to make your body smile
See, she said, I've put on new stockings just to please you
Lord, she said, Caseys, could you only stay a while?

Casey leaves the underground and stops inside the Golden Crown
For something wet to wipe away the chill that's on his bones
Seeing his reflections in the lives of all the lonely men
Who rich for anything they can to keep from going home
Standing in the corner Casey drinks his pint of bitter
Ever glancing in the mirror at the people passing by
Then he stumbles as he's livin' and he wonders if the reason
Is the beer that's in his belly or the tear that's in his eye

Oh, she said, I suppose you seldom think about me
Now, she said, now that you have family of your own
Still, she said, it's so blessed good to feel your body
Lord, she said, Casey, it's a shame to be alone

Lord, she said, Casey, it's a shame to be alone

4 Non Blondes

What’s Up?

25 years AND my life and still
I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
I realised quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made FOR this
Brotherhood of man
For whatever that means

[Chorus:]
And So I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed
JUST To get it all out what's in my head
AND I, I Am feeling a little peculiar
AND So I wake in the morning and I step
Outside AND I take deep breath
AND I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs
What's goin' on

And I SING hey-YEAH-YEA-EAH, HEY-YEAH-YEAH...
I said hey! what's goin' on
And I SING hey-YEAH-YEA-EAH, HEY-YEAH-YEAH...
I said hey! what's goin' on

OOOH, OO! OOH-HOO-HOO-HOO-HOO
OO-OOH-HOO-HOO-HOO-HOOOO
OOOH! OOO-AAH-HOO-HOO-HOO-HOO
OO-OOH-HOO-HOO-HOO-HOOOO

And I try, oh my God do I try
I try all the time
In this institution
And I pray, oh my God do I pray
I pray every single day
For a revolution

[Chorus:]
And So I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed
JUST To get it all out what's in my head
AND I, I Am feeling a little peculiar
AND So I wake in the morning and I step Outside
AND I take deep breath

I said hey! what's goin' on
And I SING hey-YEAH-YEA-EAH, HEY-YEAH-A-YEA-YEA-YEA...
I said hey! what's goin' on

OOOH, OO! OOH-HOO-HOO-HOO-HOO
OO-OOH-HOO-HOO-HOO-HOOOO-AHH-HAA

Really? I think that's a hard song to sing. I'd have loved to hear her. I can't sing at all so I appreciate those who can! :lmao: :lmao:

Deep Blue Something

Breakfast at Tiffany's

You say that we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from
And we're falling apart
You'll say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
But I know you just dont care

And I said "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember the film,
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it."
And I said, "Well, thats the one thing we've got."

I see you - the only one who knew me,
And now your eyes see through me
I guess I was wrong
So what now? It's plain to see we're over,
And I hate when things are over -
When so much is left undone.

Woooohoooo... I'm gonna be doing Flogging Molly in two weeks!!!!! :cartwheel

Ska and Phat Blues this past weekend and now Irish Folk/Punk in Baltimore in a couple weeks... Post me an Irish ballad, my lad, C...
Sounds like a great time!

I got turned onto Irish music at the Celtic Festival in Calvert County, which is held each April. One of my favorites is Maggie Sansone who plays the hammered dulcimer, a very beautiful and haunting instrument, among a host of others.

Flogging Molly is more like your "drunkin' sailors just back from a voyage" bar band rather than a beautiful, haunting dulcimer playing kinda band...

Unfortunately, no. But I don't doubt you were "hammered." :lmao: I didn't go this year for some reason, but I've gone to it quite a few times. I got to talk to Maggie the year before last for quite a while and got her to autograph some of her albums. What a fascinating and talented lady!

One of my other favorites is Iona. They showed up at the Mongolian Barbecue in Prince Frederick after the festival that year and sat behind my table. They absorbed us into their group and we had a blast. What delightful and funny people!

Ah, more like the Renaissance Festival type of music. I love that too. I can't wait to go again this year.
