She also played this one...

which somehow is one of my favorites... :blushing:

Lift me, won't you lift me above the old routine;
Make it nice, play it clean jazzman.

When the jazzman's testifyin' a faithless man believes
he can sing you into paradise or bring you to your knees.
It's a gospel kind of feelin', a touch of Georgia slide,
a song of pure revival and a style that's sanctified.

Jazzman take my blues away; make my pain
the same as yours with every change you play.
Jazzman, oh jazzman.

When the jazzman's signifyin', and the band is windin' low.
It's the late night side of morning in the darkness of his soul.
He can fill a room with sadness as he fills his horn with tears.
He can cry like a fallen angel when risin' time is near.

Jazzman take my blues away; make my pain
the same as yours with every change you play.
Oh lift me, won't you lift me with ev'ry turn around.
Play it sweetly, take me down, oh jazzman.

Carole King's "Tapestry" was one of my favorite albums growing up. I hijacked it from my sister's collection and listened to it over and over again. Hmmmmmm.... come to think of it, I don't believe I ever returned the album to her. :blushing:

last but not least...

So far away, doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore?
It would be so fine to see your face at my door
Doesn't help to know you're just time away

Long ago I reached for you and there you stood
Holding you again could only do me good
How I wish I could, but you're so far away

One more song about movin' along the highway
Can't say much of anything that's new
If I could only work this life out my way
I'd rather spend it bein' close to you.

But you're so far away, doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore?
It would be so fine to see your face at my door
Doesn't help to know you're so far away

Yay-uh-ay-eee
Oh, so far away

Travelin' around sure gets me down and lonely
Nothin' else to do but close my mind
I sure hope the road don't come to own me
There's so many dreams I've yet to fin-ind

But you're so far away, doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore?
It would be so fine to see your face at my door
And it doesn't help to know you're so far away

Yay-uh-ay-eee
Oh, so far away
Yay, you're so faaaaaar away

Ain't but one way out baby, Lord I just can't go out the door.
Ain't but one way out baby, and Lord I just can't go out the door.
Cause there's a man down there, might be your man I don't know.

Lord you got me trapped woman, up on the second floor;
If I get by this time I won't be trapped no more.
So raise our window baby, I can ease out soft and slow.
And lord, your neighbors, no they won't be
Talking that stuff that they don't know.

Lord, I'm foolish to be here in the first place,
I know some man gonna walk in and take my place.
Ain't no way in the world, I'm going out that front door
Cause there's a man down there, might be your man I don't know.
Cause there's a man down there, might be your man I don't know.
Cause there's a man down there,

Freely
Lord, it just might happen to be your man...
Lord, it just a might be your man,
Oh baby, I just don't know...

Lord, I was born a ramblin' man,
Tryin' to make a livin' and doin' the best I can.
And when it's time for leavin',
I hope you'll understand,
That I was born a ramblin' man.

Well my father was a gambler down in Georgia,
He wound up on the wrong end of a gun.
And I was born in the back seat of a Greyhound bus
Rollin' down highway 41.

CHORUS

I'm on my way to New Orleans this mornin',
Leaving out of Nashville, Tennessee,
They're always having a good time down on the bayou,
Lord, them Delta women think the world of me.

CHORUS

Lord, I was born a ramblin' man...

I sure don't :dead: Just walked in the door. Does anyone depise driving from BWI, down the Rt. 301/4 corridor back to St. Marys, as much as I do? :burning:

Awesome song BTW. Hard to believes she's 63 :yikes:

Don't you take 97? I take 97 to 50/301, turn off on 424 after a couple of miles, then take some back roads and connect up to 4 north of the 2/4 split. I try to stay off of 50/301 and 2 as much as possible.

BTW - glad you're back. :huggy:

She looked absolutely radiant. :yay: Hope I look anywhere close to that good when I'm her age.

I Can't Drive 55
by Airgasm
album:
One foot on the brake and one on the gas, hey!
Well, there's too much traffic, I can't pass, no!
So I tried my best illegal move
A big black and white come and crushed my groove again!

CHORUS:
Go on & write me up for 125
Post my face, wanted dead or alive
Take my license n' all that jive
I can't drive É 55! Oh No! Uh!

So I signed my name on number 24, hey!
Yeah the judge said, "Boy, just one more
I'm gonna throw your ass in the city joint"
Looked me in the eye, said, "You get my point?"
I said "Yeah!, Oh yea!"

CHORUS II:
Write me up for 125
Post my face, wanted dead or alive
Take my license, all that jive
I can't drive É 55!
Oh, yea!

I can't drive 55! (four times)
Uh! (Solo)

When I drive that slow, you know it's hard to steer.
And I can't get my car out of second gear.
What used to take two hours now takes all day.
Huh - It took me 16 hours to get to L.A.!

CHORUS:
Go on & write me up for 125
Post my face, wanted dead or alive
Take my license n' all that jive
I can't drive 55!

No, no, no, I can't drive...(I can't drive 55!)
I can't drive... (I can't drive 55!)
I can't drive 55!

My absolute favorite southern rock song...

I seen the bright lights of Memphis
And the Commodore Hotel
And it was there beneath the streetlamp
Where I met a southern belle
Well she took me to the river
Where she cast her spell

This is true. I used to work summers in Memphis and met a couple of girls there I will never forget. Different place, that's for sure.

Button your lip baby
Button your coat
Let’s go out dancing
Go for the throat
Let’s bury the hatchet
Wipe out the past
Make love together
Stay on the path

You’re not the only one
With mixed emotions
You’re not the only ship
Adrift on this ocean

This coming and going
Is driving me nuts
This to-ing and fro-ing
Is hurting my guts
So get off the fence
It’s creasing your butt
Life is a party
Let’s get out and strut

You’re not the only one
That’s feeling lonesome
You’re not the only one
With mixed emotions

You’re not the only one
You’re not the only one
You’re not the only one
You’re not the only one

Let’s grab the world
By the scruff of the neck
And drink it down deeply
Let’s love it to death
So button your lip
And button your coat
Let’s go out dancing
Let’s rock ’n’ roll

You’re not the only one
With mixed emotions
You’re not the only ship
Adrift on this ocean
You’re not the only one
That’s feeling lonesome
You’re not the only one
With mixed emotions

Nice lady!
On a Guns N' Roses kick here...

She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that special place
And if I'd stare too long
I'd probably break down and cry

Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine

She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder
And the rain
To quietly pass me by

Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine

Where do we go
Where do we go now
Where do we go
Sweet child o' mine

There's a man who leads a life of danger
To everyone he meets he stays a stranger
With every move he makes another chance he takes
Odds are he won't live to see tomorrow

Secret agent man, secret agent man
They've given you a number and taken away your name

Beware of pretty faces that you find
A pretty face can hide an evil mind
Ah, be careful what you say
Or you'll give yourself away
Odds are you won't live to see tomorrow

Secret agent man, secret agent man
They've given you a number and taken away your name

------ lead guitar ------

Secret agent man, secret agent man
They've given you a number and taken away your name

Swingin' on the Riviera one day
And then layin' in the Bombay alley next day
Oh no, you let the wrong word slip
While kissing persuasive lips
The odds are you won't live to see tomorrow

Secret agent man, secret agent man
They've given you a number and taken away your name

She's a good girl, loves her mama
Loves Jesus and America too
She's a good girl, crazy 'bout Elvis
Loves horses and her boyfriend too

It's a long day livin' in Reseda
There's a freeway runnin' through the yard
And I'm a bad boy, 'cause I don't even miss her
I'm a bad boy for breakin' her heart

[Chorus:]
And I'm free, I'm free fallin'

All the vampires walkin' through the valley
Move west down Ventura Blvd.
And all the bad boys are standing in the shadows
All the good girls are home with broken hearts

[Chorus]

I wanna glide down over Mulholland
I wanna write her name in the sky
I wanna free fall out into nothin'
Gonna leave this world for awhile

It was a beautiful day, the sun beat down
I had the radio on, I was drivin'
Trees flew by, me and Del were singin' little Runaway
I was flyin'

[Chorus:]
Yeah runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a dream

I felt so good like anything was possible
I hit cruise control and rubbed my eyes
The last three days the rain was un-stoppable
It was always cold, no sunshine

[Chorus]

I rolled on as the sky grew dark
I put the pedal down to make some time
There's something good waitin' down this road
I'm pickin' up whatever's mine

Just me and you
Come on and make it a

Hurt so good
Come on baby make it hurt so good
Sometimes love don´t feel like it should
You make it hurt so good

You don´t have to be so excitin´
Just tryin´ to give myself a little bit of fun, yeah
You always look so invitin´
You ain´t as green as you are young
Hey baby it´s you
Come on girl now it´s you
Sink your teeth right through my bones, baby
Let´s see what we can do

Sometimes love don´t feel like it should
You make it hurt so good

I ain´t talkin´ no big deals
I ain´t made no plans myself
I ain´t talkin´ no high heels
Maybe we could walkin´ around, all day long,
Walkin´ around, all day long

Hurt so good
Come on baby make it hurt so good
Sometimes love don´t feel like it should
You make it hurt so good
Hurt so good
Come on baby make it hurt so good
Sometimes love don´t feel like it should
You make it hurt so good

FYI Tom wrote a few songs about this event. He is a native of a town I spent some time in. A girl jumped to her death from her window atop her high-rise college dorm there. You can no longer open the windows in the dorm. Her and Tom were good friends :huggy:
