Why do you suppose Hollywood people are so dysfunctional? They're all either on drugs, drunks or sexual deviants.

Is it the pressure of stardom? Or are creative people just predisposed to mental illness? I mean, it's not like Mel Gibson can't afford a driver when he wants to go out drinking.

Typically alcoholics have low self-worth and drink to escape what they consider their effed up lives. Maybe that's what draws these people to the spotlight to begin with - low self-worth - and the drugs and booze are just part of that?

Really, who in their right mind would want to be followed around by photographers every second of the day and have everything they do become tabloid fodder?

Because they are humans and humans are dysfunctional. Look at the stupidity in the police reports you put under local news.

We just don't notice when some goober gets a DUI and says stupid crap. For some reason, people pay attention to what Mel does off screen.

He's an actor, not a philosopher, politician, or educator. Why does anyone care what he says or does off screen if you like his movies?

I've often wondered why congress has celeberities testifying on various issues.

When you have that much money, what else is there to do.....

Purchase many million dollar houses---Done
countless expensive cars---Done
Pay someone to raise my Kids, then send them to private school, oh dont forget summer camp---Done
Pay someone to clean my house, cut my grass, clean my pool....--Done

Do drugs, get drunk, make fools of ourselves cause the world worships celebrities and all want to be like us :sarcasm:

:yeahthat:

I'm often amazed at how bent out of shape poeple can get over something that is said. Obviously, context is everything. If Mel called a press conference one sunny morning and calculatingly spouted off against everything Jewish...I'd expect a certain reaction. But in this case...Mel was obviously a bit off his face, and excessive alcohol can turn a bad situation worse. It's not like he's the first guy to spew stupid crap when he's had a few. ( )

Of course...poeple being the way they are...the big news is what he said...not that he was driving drunk.

When celebrities say anything, I either agree with it...or I don't. No big deal. Heck...Mel could've personally insulted me ("Kerad has started all the wars in the world...the big dummy!") and it wouldn't make one bit of difference to me when his next movie comes out. If it looks good...I'm buying.
