Does anyone know of any German Shepherd Breeders, any info would be helpful, Thanks.
I know I'm going to get a ration of #### for this, but this is not really better. sometimes you want brand new, not screwed up by the previous owner. You want to be able to see the the parents, assess the blood lines and believe it or not be able to show the dog. I've had both types, rescues and show quality dogs and a lot of times getting a rescue dog is getting a psychologically damaged basket case.
Sorry for the rambling, but I hope you get the gist of it.

I get what you're saying, being a professional horseman the same goes for horses, however in both cases there are good ones out there, and I will look into all options. I have kids so the new dog has to be right, and without issues. Do you have any info on breeders. Thanks.
Then go adopt an "All American Mutt" puppy! Huge gene pool!
I hope you did not get your kids this way by selecting you mate based on pedigree and blood lines!
If you really want a "perfect" GSD, then contact the AKC and talk to the owners of the GSD that won his breed at Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show...that is about as perfect as you are going to get!
(I fail to see what being a "professional" has to do with getting a good 'family" dog has to do with anything. :shrug

I didn't start this post to cause a debate, be smart mouthed, or have to explain myself. I figured with this being a "dog forum" I could get some useful info, and not what I just got from you. To reference how I chose my wife and kids is out of line. Please don't reply, I'll take my search elsewhere, or communicate with others that here to participate in the forum in a more respectful way.

I purchased my GSD from a place in Oxen Hill, but this was about 16 years ago. Not sure if they are still in business. Applejacks has nice dogs, but I haven't had any contact with them in years. Good luck.

Next time I am in the market, I will think long and hard before getting a dog from anything but a good breeder, preferably where the dog has been raised with a loving family.
My St Bernard-Great Pyreness mix came from a breeder, but by the light of day it became apparent that she was running a breeding mill. Lots of crates and cages of all breeds of dog. We had already agreed to buy the dog, my son was already in love, so we went ahead with it.
It was quickly obvious that the 6 month old had never had human contact other than feedings. After more than three years, I can sometimes walk up to her when we are outside, more often she will run away. Getting her to come back inside can take 15 or more minutes of coaxing.
She is a sweet dog, anyone can walk up to her inside the house and she just sits there and takes the petting, but she is obviously uncomfortable. Was easily house broken, but it is heartbreaking how cowardly she is.
Contact Frequentflier, she might be able to help direct you. If, and when you get your new Pup, post some pictures!! Good luck.
