I have a 65 chevelle with minor paint bubbles and chipped paint along the door edges as well as other minor body issues, need an excellent shop that can do the work in Calvert or So St. Mary's.

Not in Calvert or St Marys counties but when my Challenger was hit in the Dodge dealership it went to Gary Grays Bodyworks in White Plains. They did an outstanding job on the body work and repaint. Give them a call and ask if they work on vintage cars if you're interested. Good luck. :)

Thanks for the suggestions

I know Courtney at Old Towne, not sure they do paint and bodywork there.I'm going to Mike's Custom Paint in St.Mary's.I took my car to him and we worked out a deal.I'll let the board know if it turns out well.

Paint job on classic chevelle

I got my 65 Malibu back from Mike's Custom Paint today. This guy is better than any car painter that I've ever used.He is a perfectionist, blended the paint so well I doubt if anyone would ever be able to say where the flaws were and did a beautiful job on the clearcoat.I would recommend him to anyone looking for a classic car painter or an insurance job.The guy is top notch and local, pretty rare to find that in southern maryland.

I noticed that you left it with him 2 months ago. Did it take him 2 months to finish it? For lots of folks, that time frame doesn't work.

Well, Crash, for a classic, not likely to be a daily driver, and so that kind of timeframe might be okay.

He did it in a week but I took the car there in November with the understanding insurance work took priority.I was in no hurry since it is a show car/cruise night car and not a daily driver. It was worth the wait. The car has a show quality paint job now.He is the best painter I've ever seen and I've had muscle and classic cars since I was 16,a long time ago.

That's cool. The key is that he told you up front that it's a low priority for him and it may take a while. Unacceptable is when they give you a timeframe up front and it ends up taking 3 times as long. Been there, done that with non-insurance paint work.

I completely agree with you and I too have had that happen. This guy is honest and true to his word. When he told me he had started and when it would be finished it was. That's the kind of person who will always get my business and my recommendation.

Gary's is USAA approved too. They have done a great job, unfortunately, about six times for us during our 14 years in SOMD.
I need to go see them again soon as my classic Honda S2000 was "keyed" very badly last week. I hope they'll give me a break!
