I'm just curious if anyone has any good recommendations for daycare for a 1 year old starting early August...I've called both Creative Beginnings and Starmaker..Creative Beginning wouldn't take her until she is 2 and Starmaker won't have anything until January with 20 families already on the list..Both are very full..I called St. Mary's Sunshine Center today..Any feedback on their center? I'm in the process of trying to call the Locate office however their line is staying busy...
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!!!

If you look there, the Amanda's Home Daycare one..... I used to date her lil sis, and I know Amanada is a great person, and good with kids... I would recommend her, her mom(also does daycare Mechville area) and her lil sis(the one I used to date) does it now, northern hollywood area.... All 3 are great people, good with kids...

Where are you located? What areas are you looking in for care? Wife has a home child care business, but has no infant openings at this time, but I can ask if she has any suggestions if you'd like.

You can also search for providers thru a link on the Resource Center's website http://www.mdchildcare.org/mdcfc/childcare/mccdefault.asp
A word of warning: The locate function on the website uses an out of date map, and thus you may not get all the available providers in the area you are searching, so you would still want to keep trying to call the center for referrals.

And you work where? Not company, just the area. If you work at Pax, you don't care about openings in Hughesville.

Guess I forgot to tell you, darlin' They found some money and bought an upgraded map program. It's working much better then it was, so you MIGHT be able to get some useful info from that site.

It's always better to call and talk to a human at LOCATE, they can sort providers by things like school district, pets, etc. but they have been having money issues and are understaffed and only have one incoming line. I tried to call them a couple of weeks ago to update my info and it took me a week to get through.

LOCATE and the Resource Center where it is run from is funded mostly by the state, but also in part by the three counties (they each pay a third of the rent). If you want this service to get better, write your politicians at budget time and vote against Dyson (I don't care who you vote FOR) because I understand he voted against funding that would affect these programs and his record on child care issues is abysmal.
