Looking for rough sawn lumber...

Visited the amish sawmill out in Loveville today on Friendship School Rd. and was disappointed to see that he didn't have much lumber stacked about. Havne't been there in about two years and it looks like he's now in the business of shredding logs instead of milling them.

He didn't know any other place around, and I don't either. I'm looking for a bunch of pine 1x12 boards for barn siding (restoration). Anyone know of a place I can follow up on that might have some?

Thanks,

For inside projects you'll want furniture grade, kiln dried. Dysons has oak, cherry, cedar, etc. Kiln dried and rough cut. Obviously you'll have to plane it. Don't get air dried. If you do, you'll need a moisture meter.

Thanks for the info. Concerning the Amish mill on Rt. 236 (and I read that there was one also on Rt. 6), I was wonderning if anyone had been there recently and could vouch that they're still operating and have a good selection? Seeing as their Amish, I can't call 'em...just have to run up there; but it's quite a drive for me to find out that they're not selling or operating anymore...

Also, if someone could tell me where along Rt. 236 and/or Rt. 6 I can find these sawmills, it'd be much appreciated.

Thanks again,

They are still open. Sometimes you'll have to place an order for what you want. They don't always have the cut you need. But it usually only takes them a week or so, then you go back and pick it up.

I've bought pine of various sizes from Stoltfus (sp?) on 236 for many years. They are the rather large operation butting right up to the north side of the road not far from the Rt. 5 end..

There is one right behind him also. He cuts with a band saw. Wood is not as rough cut.
Take the road right next to mill on side of the road and just drive till you see it
