Check with the State Employment Office and see what they can offer you. Sometimes there is training, grants, special funding for single moms, women who have been out of the work force, etc. check them out! Also CSM offers resume writing and interview help! Perhaps you can get some funding and take a course to brush up on your skills plus potential employers see that you have been busy at school to "improve your skills". Also check with your local church and get in the "network", and see if folks there know of anything. Don't give up! Good luck!!

What is your career field? How many facial piercings do you have? Are you available to actually work when the business needs you?

I find it hard to believe that you haven't been called back for one single interview. Why do you think that is? It's not because there are no jobs available.

Should not matter how many holes she has in her face. She has not even been to an interview yet is the problem. Maybe the resume needs to be fine tuned.

Are you limiting yourself to "acceptable jobs" or anything? Somoene told me that they had an applicant interview at their store showed up in ripped jeans and flip-flops with a plalstic flower on them and she said they hired her.

I disagree. If she shows up for an outside sales position in my company - or any position where she'd be working with the public - with a bunch of holes in her face, I'd write "Appearance unacceptable" on her application and toss it in the trash. No need to interview her, I already know she's not going to be hired. That's why I asked what field she's interested in working.

Getting an interview is a snap, so I'm curious why she hasn't gotten even one. She knows the reason and should share it with us before we jump to any conclusions and offer suggestions.

What is your background / education / training? Do you have any restrictions to work that make you a concern for a potential employee? Are you under / over qualified for the positions you are applying for? Has someone reviewed your resume for content / format / grammar? Are you being overly-selective in terms of what positions you are seeking? I find it a bit hard to believe that you've been unable to get an interview in that period of time. Something else seems to be in play.

I own my own company, have been looking for honest, god, reliable help since November of ten years ago,,,,its not out there. Cant locate an honest, reliable, dependable person with a license who doesn't constantly swear and use the F word in every sentence....

What kind of work do you do (certain industries tend to have certain behaviors as part of the lifestyle)? Another question, do you market towards these people? I tend to find that the higher the pay (for the market), the better talent that tends to be. In other words, the good ones get locked up by the companies willing to pay for them ........ leaving the "rest" for others to pick up. I deal with the same problem.

I disagree, my wife got laid off in February and it was 8 weeks before she got a call for an interview. She was applying for a lot of entry level stuff, as well stuff in here career field. It was discouraging to not hear anything. However after the first reply came in she got 2 more replies.

Agree, it depends on the level of work Katlin is looking for, she left a lot out for us to guess on. If she is not getting interviews then the front problem is the resume.

I'm surprised to hear it's been that long. What line of work are you in. What types of jobs have you been applying for? My son submitted an application yesterday and got called for an interview that's set for this Friday.
