I'm glad my boy went for this instead of a rocket. Has a little more protection and a lot less giddyup.

Most bagger riders dont wear any non required gear...
Dont kid yourself, the best protection is a good pair of boots, gloves, leathers or a armored jacket and a $600 plus full coverage Snell approved helmet...
Ride in what you want to slide in....

Yeah it's funny. I've never thought of any motorcycle I've ever ridden as having more or less protection. Although I am pretty sure that my V-Stroms side cases ensured that my motorcycle got pushed ahead of the guy that hit me rather than ridden over by him. Otherwise, I think his bumper would have snagged my back tire and just rolled me right under him.

A full face helmet is always nice for the family, they make a good looking corpse.
They die with a broken neck but the face isn't messed up.

Not as much as the ones without......... I dont agree with mandatory helmet laws, but I'll never ride without one, any more than I'll ride without my boots, gloves, and armored jacket.

.

The riders who did not wear helmets had twice as many injuries to the cervical spine, commonly known as the neck. The study found that 15.4 percent of riders without helmets received at least one cervical spine injury compared with 7.4 percent of those wearing helmets.

In addition, those without helmets had more than twice as many cervical spine fractures: 10.8 percent of the helmet-less riders broke a bone in their neck, compared with 4.6 percent of those with helmets. Ligament injuries to the neck were also more common without helmets.

Exactly, some uneducated folks are stuck in the past and think DOT approved brain bucket will save ones life.....
Hey lets all ride in flip flops, cargo shorts, a tee shirt and a 69.00 half helmet...
Shock Traumas across the country are full of those now braindead faceless folks.

Ive been on poker runs out here with 150+ riders and maybe 4 of us has all the gear on....
I dont do the drunk poker runs for years now....

Not many die at all when having an accident while wearing good gear.....

I went on two locally, quickly realized it was just an excuse to drink and ride. Also severed my ties with the bike org.
All of the Eagle Aeries Eagle Riders around me each have a few bar hopping poker runs for guys that wrecked and died on drunk poker runs... The hardcore boys are even worst. It makes one wonder....

I wear a helmet and would wear one law or no law, but I don't want a full face helmet.
I also don't want those fake helmets a lot of people wear.
If i gotta wear one I want a good one.

Sneakers

Just sneakin' around....
I wear a modular. I like being able to ride with the front flipped up, but have the choice of flipping it back down and securing it. I'm aware that if I have an accident with it flipped up, it's probably more deadly than an open face, but I'm riding in a tubular frame with an oversized motor with some cheap plastic wrapped around me. In a bad accident, I'm dead anyway.

In my first and only MSF course. When discussing styles of helmets, the instructor grabbed one students open face helmet and asked us to imagine what would happen were the exposed bits of the wearers face were to be run across a belt sander with 60 grit on the belt....

Like Sneakers I run a modular. I never ride with it raised. But makes it easy to pop into stores and interact with people. I do raise it at long stop signs.

Then buy a Snell approved 3/4 helmet, but understand with not buying a $600 dollar or up Snell approved full helmet you give up comfort, safety and endless head bobbing with shitty aerodynamics....
A great helmet makes for a great ride....

Its a great feature for chating at lights or getting fuel...
I have an old Shoei neotec 1 modular I tend to wear when bar hopping around town.
When heading outside of town I have a Air ll Shoei, most comfortable helmet ive ever worn.
