Lost total respect for the new Target

I respect targets policy, (does'nt mean I agree with it),but it is kind of nice not being hit on every saturday morning when going into the store.

We wouldnt be going out to do a boot drive, if that is what you are thinking about. Now if Joe Citizen wanted to give a donation he could. But its now a state law that we can not do boot drives at all..... We just want to place 2 pieces of apparatus in front of a couple stores, Target is not the only one. We are always looking for ways to support our community, this past weekend we had a huge yard sale at the station, which I hear was a pretty large turn out. We do other fundraising activites, and our yearly santa runs in and around the first due area. We were just looking to set up and show the citizens our equipment and possibly recruit some new members, that is all. Get out there to show support for the new retailers, and if there is anything at all that they need from us, then we would be happy to do it.

Went to the new Target this morning to talk to an on duty manager about having our fire department do a display outside in front of their new store at Brandywine Crossing in the near future. I was told flat out NO! I asked why and they said that they have a no solicitation policy. I was like well that just sucks! So hopefully they wont ask for anything in return from us! :cds:

what does that mean then?

Then you should be happy to take no for an answer and move on.

i could be wrong, but i think in past years around the holidays, the "bell ringers" cant think of organization at the moment, but they're at the target down here in St. Mary's.... salvation army? maybe????

But I personally can appreciate going to a store without someone having their hand out looking for a "donation". I agree with Target in making a "Blanket" decision to say no to ALL. It has nothing to do with being against our Vets or Gays or Girl Scouts or anything. It has to do with their customers being solicited at the doors where there is already enough commotion going on.

Also, what makes your charitable organization any better than anyone elses? Why does society have an "I'm an exception to the rule" mentality?

I personally do support our Vets, Gays and Girl Scouts but not infront of Target, Walmart or any other outside place where they approach any potential gullible sucker.

again...JMO
